I have a older Savvy 735 rod that I broke about 2" off the tip. I now have the correct size Fuji tip to make the rod whole again just 2" shorter. Figured I'd repair and see if it was something I would still use.

My question is what is the best method to cleanly cut the rod end to remove the splintered portion?

Thanks

I'd use a high speed dremel tool with a saw blade.

Great idea. Sadly I loaned my Dremel to a friend oh about 5 years ago. :(
So if that wasn't a option whats the 2nd best option?  :help:

Take it outside and use a flat file,a bit more tedious but it will get done. Don't breathe in any of the dust.

OK thx I may try it.

I have a 4" high speed. The cutoff wheel is a little bigger than that of the Dremel but I believe it should work.

I use a Grinder and a cutoff wheel for cutting fishing rod blanks, golf clubs, and carbon shaft arrows. It should work, wear eye protection and gloves in case of splintering or shattering.

I used a 4" high speed and trimmed it up. Already fitted and installed the new tip. Thanks for all the help.

Had my tip broke off, brought to my rod builder which he fixed it for me for 15 bucks.

I know that people like to do it themselves but time is money.
