I saw Mikes post about his itch for a new hand gun.  I have an itch for another one as well.  I've heard a lot about the new Springfield Hellcat.  I'm looking at a 9mm.  One problem is availability.  Our local stores can't get enough of them and they can't keep them in stock.  If they had them I'd probably have one already.  I don't need another pistol so should I let the itch die or continue to wait and try to find one.   I could put my name on a waiting list and wait till they get them in then get there before anyone else on the waiting list.
What's your thoughts on the Hellcat and are they worth the wait?

Just a quick search I found several places that claim to have them in stock. Just buy and have shipped to your FFL maybe?

Looks like a decent gun. Springfield makes a solid piece. A good friend of mine is a big Springfield guy.

Thanks Steve,  Yeah the nearest Cabelas 35 miles from me showed them too but when I called this morning they were out.  Everybody's saying they have them on order but springfield is only shipping one or two at a time.  The closest dealer to me said they have about 20 on back order and about 30 on the waiting list.

Have you thought about contacting Springfield and see if they can give you some specifics on when you could get one. Maybe they could tell you when they would be shipping etc to your area. Maybe buy direct if they do that and get shipped to your FFL that way?

Haven't had time to read the article but there's a write on the Hellcat Micro in this month's American Rifleman.

I have relatives that have them and everyone just loves that gun so I'm not worried about that.  I don't need one but just have this thing called "want".  I'm thinking it would be a good compact firearm to carry in the car and at times in the boat.  My other hand guns are longer barrels.  It's times like this when I wish I still had my store.

With persistent follow up, many phone calls and a 97 mile one way road trip paid off and I found my Christmas present.   I'm now the owner of a Springfield Hellcat 9mm Optic.  I did get a chance to fire a few rounds at the range yesterday.  It's comfortable in my hand and has lighter recoil compared to other hand guns that I've fired.  I've never fired one with the optics before..  Love that feature.  I wasn't looking for the optics model but I'm real happy that is the one I got.

been looking to shoot this one versus the Sig P365 -- those seem to be the top contenders in the class for carry.

Also, want to shoot the glock 43x as a comparison piece.

I prefer metal and wood on my pistols, but it's hard to argue with everything the Hellcat brings to the table. Or the P365 for that matter as well. Ergonomics are nice on both, and I have nothing bad to say about the reliability of Springfield or Sig

One issue I have with the P365 and the Glocks (and potentially the Hellcat, soon) is that EVERYONE has them. I tend to be someone that always has to be different.
