Just picked up an 06 Nitro 640LX
I have been Pirogue fishing for years, this boat was a deal at $4,500.00
So I decided to get it.

only 16' but I fish alone most of the time anyhow.

I just got a "new" boat too. 175 Tracker. The back seat is empty most of the time, but these days I hate to go alone. Getting really old has something to do with it.
Maybe we can "hook" up sometime, but after the weather cools a little.

Thank you - I had my mind made up that I was going to purchase a Bass Tracker Classic XL this years model has paint rather than the aluminum finish, it's 17' and for a starter boat at 11,000 with a 60hp motor seemed like a good deal.

My only concern with this 16' Nitro is the motor HP, it has a 60 on it, which seems a little small to me, I would expect a 75-90HP would be better suited for this boat.

Anyone else have or had this boat with a 60? How does it perform ?

Wyatt, a good rule of thumb when selecting a motor is to buy the max HP for the rating of the boat. It makes it a bit more attractive should you want to sell it later.

I just bought a Tracker Pro Team 175 TF with a 60 on it. It does o.k. GPS speed at 35 with two people and full tank of gas. Undoubtedly the 75 hp would be quicker, but it's fast enough for me. I do have a SS prop and Hydrofoil.
The Classic is smaller and lighter so should perform very well with the 60, but not going to win any races.
Local BP has only one Classic left.

The 175 is a great setup and was the original plan for me until I saw the classic.
Same length same motor and much much cheaper.
The Nitro being Fiberglass, I just figured it was a heavier boat, not really concerned about speed, just getting up on plane with a couple of people in the boat.

Had the 75 on mine was fine for the 1st six months then kicked myself for not getting the 90 LOL

First time with it on the water today on Cross lake, this afternoon was pretty windy and the lake was rough.. calmed down toward the end of the day. With a full take of gas and two people over 200 lbs each, it took a few seconds to plane out, once planed it was a little squirrelly but this is my first boat so not much to compare it to.. It ran great after getting on plane..
Caught about 5 between my daughter and myself so it was a good day/.

Yeah trim is going to be your friend,,, if I was back in a 640 Id upgrade to a 24v 80lbs MK TM as soon as I could. Not much to do about the big motor but use it to lean how trim and RPMs affect hw a boat runs/turns/how to stay on pad at low speed. A Nitro is a great fishing platform enjoy it

Funny you mention that, the foot control on this one has 12/24 if I switch it to 24 I have nothing, 12V works fine, but there are 3 batteries in the boat, so I just assumed 24V, I will have to do some investigation more into this.
