Haha you got to be kidding. This is almost as bad as Ford vs Chevy debates.  lo

About a hundred reels and most are a few dollars apart in the $20 to $50 range it's crazy. I haven't owned but a handful so I cant explicitly say the "best" . But I know a few that have worked well for the money for me. The Mitchell Avocet has been probably the better of the ones I have actually had enough time on the water to say its been a good reel. I also have a Shimano Sienna and a Penn Fierce that have performed great all under $50.00.

For spinning reels I don't get to excited trying to get top notch stuff. As long as it's smooth drag works decent and its built half decent I'm good. To me spinning gear is just not that important for my fishing.

Pflueger Supreme is still my choice. But I dont use them things.
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

The haters will probably go after me. But for a budget minded reel I have the Kast King Sharky lll in 1000,2000 and 3000 series. Not a bad reel for the price point.

inNOTof,

As far as spinning reels I have found that Shimano makes some great reels. I realy like the Shimano Sahara series but the Stradic is top notch. Also the Plueger Presidents are excellent reels.

About half my fishing is with spinning gear. I've had expensive reels. I've also had inexpensive reels from manufacturers known for their spinning reels. One reel stood out for me and I've used it for over a decade. The Pfluger President is under $70. It has 10 bearings and the mechanism is very smooth. The line strips easily on the cast and retrieves easily and evenly onto the spool. The drag is smooth and doesn't stop or catch as a bass runs. Overall, it performs as well as many expensive reels and better than some.

I have found that if you don't own/buy a name brand rod or reel some have said they are garbage. I now have 9 KK reels mounted on 5 Dobyns Fury and couple of KK rods. I am the occasional bass fishermen and these fit into my budget nicely, I replaced my Siennas with the Sharky lll also have the Assasin and Speed Demons.  These reels to me are very nice in 50 buck price range. Not saying they are best and may not last 10 years ,but they do serve the purpose for me.

I have found a couple under $100. Abu Garcia Revo X are $100 retail and I have a 30 and 40 size. Both have outstanding drags and are truly work horse tools. The Garcia promax is around $30 cheaper and I have no problem with it.

I recently bought a Quantum  Vapor 25 size and they are coming in under $100. Smooth as glass and the drag is really good. I put 10lb braid on it and paired it with a 7'4" KVD medium spinning rod and it will cast Rooster tails up to wacky rigs like a sling shot. Any of the above can be found at a budget if you shop.

The Revos have had HEAVY use for almost 2 years now so I can recommend them. The 30 size has been my daily finesse reel and it has really been tested.

Good luck.

I use BPS PRO QUALIFIERS I buy on sale, bullet proof. The Pfluger President is a very good reel for the money.

Man, have I owned the cheap spinning reels.  I am settling down to Penns and a few Diawa live liners in my spinning arsenal now a days though.  I still do buy other brands just to see how the "better folks" fish, I use them for a while then either give them away or put them in a storage bin for "emergencies".

I started out buying The Penn Pursuit which is the inexpensive entry model I think.  The idea was to replace them with something better as they wore out  They are still going strong after many years of tough salt water fishing.

I do have some Spin Fishers And Slammers which are much more money, but I really don't see much difference until I get to the big species.

I even have some well over 20 year old Mitchells which are now in storage waiting for a fresh water outing to come around.  Probably won't happen anymore.

The way "New and Improved" gear comes around every year.  I think it behooves anglers to buy cheap and wear it out so this way you can justify to the better half the need for some new gear once in a while.

Thank you all for your input. I was hoping some Okuma fans would come up but all good. Also, the LEWS reels. I do like Daiwa, too. Drag is extremely important to me.

Thanks again!

Another vote for the Revo and Pfluger president. I've abused both for years now and they still work perfectly. Both are almost indestructible.

I have a couple Okuma Avenger Bait Runner reels and the drags on both the bait runner and regular drag is quite smooth.  The reel is still available but my size the 3500 isn't.  It made for a nice all around niche reel I wanted for speckled sea trout with live shrimp.  And it worked great for that.

I may be able to add a little information here that is relavent.

I own 4 Okuma reels,  two bait casters and two spinning reels.  The bait casters are sitting on the shelf because I do not like them.  The spinning reels work great and I use them regularly.  The two that I have are Trio's and they perform well and are plenty strong.

I am a true Lew's fan and I own 12 bait casters and 4 spinning reels.  I use the bait casters every time I fish,  but the spinning reels are sitting on the shelf.  Lew's spinning reels are nice and work great,  but they are too flimsy and twist when fighting a fish of any size.  I have not tried them all,  but so far I have not found a Lew's spinning reel that I like.

I have to agree.  My favorite used to be my Daiwa Fuego LT.  Then I tried a Pflueger President (okay but not nearly as smooth as the Fuego LT) and a President XT (I regret buying this reel) and then a KastKing Sharky.  The Sharky is almost as nice as the Fuego LT and costs about half.  Winner!
I'm not as think as you drunk I am.

Do the chicom reels have any warranty?
