Went out to the Harris Chain today and actually had a 1st time event.  Out of all my 47 years .... I took the boat out to one of my spots I like on Lake Dora and caught a bass on my 1st cast of the day.   ~gf ;D

Anyway....

The water temp today was approximately 77 to 79 degrees on all lakes that I fished were, Dora, Eustis and Griffen.  Right off the start on Lake Dora the bass were hitting the JuneBug and Black Saphire Speedworms like it they out of style.  The largest bass, coming in at 4lb 9oz, was caught on a white/silver fluke.  We managed to land 4 fish and lost about 2 at the boat in the first hour on the water.  They were in shallow water along the reeds and hydrilla edges.  The bite slowed after the 1st hour and we didn't see our next fish until we moved on to Lake Griffin.

Lake Griffin was a real disappointment as this was my first time taking the canal all the way to the lake and having high expectations.  The water was extremely muddy with no clarity below the surface at all anywhere I went on the lake.  The one small bass we landed was purely by coincidence in my opinion, as it was a cast into open water away from the bank.  Below the surface we were dragging up a lot of thick hydrilla, which we couldn't even see because of the color of the water but seemed to be everywhere in the lake.  I'll likely not make the excursion to Griffin again.  We did see lots of beds along the canal towards Griffen, but no fish in them.  We fished a good section of this on the way back until we got to the lock and dam without so much as a strike.

After getting to Eustis we were back on the fish for a little while, managing to get 5 more in the boat in our last 2 hours.  All of our strikes were in the short grass along the banks adjacent to 441 and just into the mouth of the canal.

Anywho...this is my first ever report so to speak so hope it's helpful

Thanks for posting the report! Glad you found some fish and you weren't really haunted my that pesky superstition that says catching a fish on the first cast is bad luck.

Thanks for the report. It was a good read.  Strange how much water colour can change in joining lakes.
I wondered about the 1st cast superstition too!

Good to see you back out Fishing. Nice report.

How did your cut hold up? any pain or issues with it?

Are you thinking of attending the M&G this weekend now?

You did much better than I did yesterday, only a few dinks and it took all day to get them.

Interesting report!  I hate when I catch one on the first cast, the kiss of death.  Great job covering a lot of water for those fish.  Glad your back in action, it must have felt good to just be out there. ~c~ ~c~ ~c~

I was a little hesitant going out but it seemed to be ok for the most part.  If I moved the wrong way too much or moved too quick it reminded me it was there...lol

I was still thinking of going but I also had some other commitments I made due to me thinking I wouldn't be able to go since I had no idea this cut would be healing as quick as it is.  It's still open but much smaller and probably about 3/4 of the way closed back up.  My activity level has definitely increased and I'm feeling much better not feeling like I need to sit around on the couch all day.

I spent the whole day from nearly sun up until one of the Game Wardens  PoPo boated up next to me because I wasn't paying much attention to the time and told me I needed to turn on my Nav lights...lol   I was too involved because the fish activity was ramping up again... ~b~

I put these on the bragging rights thread but this was some of the days catch.  I didn't bother measuring all of them since they were mostly all about the same size give or take.  The top one is a little longer lol.  I had the bottom lip a little past the end of the stick  ~b~
