My partner and I fished the April Seminole Bassmasters tournament yesterday. Due to trolling motor trouble on Friday, my partner didn't get in much practice for us on Friday. Good news was he was able to get a circuit board installed to allow us to fish the tournament Saturday.
We just went fishing - made a short run first thing. Found some birds on the shore - and pulled over thinking there may be a shad spawn going on. There wasn't much of one if there was because the birds all left a couple minutes later. We fished around there a little bit and my partner put two crankbait fish in the boat. With nothing else going on we left for spot two.
We fished a ditch leading to a spawning area. The bass must have already arrived or left because we couldn't buy a bite on stop #2. Off to stop #3.
We stopped in a creek just to check a couple spots we had caught fish in the past - fishing history because we had nothing else going. Another big goose egg.
On to stop #4. Stopped on a couple grass lines and my partner asked that I give him a break on the trolling motor. I hadn't tried a frog yet so grabbed that rod and went to the front. By the time we had reached the end of that grass line the live well gained another 3 keepers - my contribution to our second place finish. Partner picked up one more keeper on spinnerbait and we went to weigh-in.
Winners had 16lbs 9ozs which included big bass of the day - a 8lb 6oz bruiser. My partner and I weighed 16lbs 3ozs. During the day I tossed 12 small shad from the live well back into the lake - shad that our bass had spit up. These were fat fish that had been gorging themselves at the dinner table. Had a great day the water. Didn't catch a lot but caught the right ones.

Nice report Swede.

Where we were fishing this weekend they were feasting on the shad as well.

Nice job catching those good sized bass! Too bad they decided to spit up those shad. You probably could have won if they had just decided not to regurgitate their food.

Nice report Swede. I never could crack the code on Talquin when I went to Fsu. I did learn a lot about creek channels and resevior fishing though. Great job.
