Alley mm 41
First light to 11:00
Mostly cloudy
W/T 74*

Went out solo this morning.  Got there early and headed for the weir on the north side.  I started with a new bait the Skip Shad in the larger version and threw it into the pad field.  All of a sudden there was a massive explosion and water everywhere.  I set the hook and felt it moving out to deep water.  It didn't take long to realize I just hooked an 8 foot gator.  I puled it around for a little while and then it realized it was hooked and took off like a bat out of hell.  A few big head shakes and the floro broke.
I caught a few small ones on the Skip Shad, but slow.  Went to the wacky trick worm that was great two weeks ago and could not get bit yesterday.  What a difference a few days or even a few hours can make.  The electronics showed fish deep so I went to a fluke and let it sit and then a few rapid jerks and sit again on the bottom.  This did the trick and it was pretty steady for a while.  Almost all the bass were caught on flukes and stick-os.  I went looking for Rick and F/G but they stayed in stealth mode and we just headed in different directions.

Ended the day with approximately 20 bass caught with the biggest almost 18", a 17, a big mudder, and a few Oscars.  Hopefully pics will follow.

Thanks for the report George. Too bad we didn't see each other out there. We just took different routes. We were planning on going to the end on the south then going back and west to the north weir but the south weir was opened up and we trolled through. FloGrown put his big motor up and got through the foot and a half to 2 feet of water without an issue. That's a shallow weir. But we made it.

Thanks Rick for the help.  If that gator that chased you was at the north weir that was the guy I hooked and was probably still pissed.  Did you see a lure in his mouth.  It's getting close to breeding season and the males are getting protective!  Fun being in the world of dinosaurs!  Lol!

Wtg Big G!!!Thanks for sharing!! There was no doubt the gator we ran into was protecting that area and did not want us around,he could have easily jumped in the boat, and he was thinking about it, all the days I wasn't carrying

Matt he wanted no part of me. ~rant  He headed for the deep water next to the weir.  I was ready for him, maybe we can have a talk next time.  He is wearing my lure like a nose ring!
