My cheapo crankbait rod I've fished with the last 6 years gave up the ghost on Sunday while fighting a one pounder.  I have spent what feels like 2 days trying to find a Dobyn's spinning rod that is Medium or Medium Heavy with Moderate action.  There seems to be a few listed on the Dobyn's site, but I can't seem to make heads or tails of the model numbers.  It seems it's CB or C for casting and SF or S for spinning.

Can someone suggest a rod or rod maker that makes a Medium or Medium Heavy with Moderate action spinning rod?  More importantly, where can I buy one?  Tackle warehouse and all the others I've looked at only seem to carry spinning rods with fast action.  Not even one moderate rod listed from what I can tell.

Any guidance would be appreciated!

When I am browsing the Tackle Warehouse site, I use the filters to find rods in the actions I like.

Once you select spinning rods from the left hand column, then select filter spinning rods, and then select the taper (moderate) and action (medium and/or medium heavy)

I just looked there and they had 31 rods in that category. Hope this helps.

Thanks!  I thought the filter spinning rods was the list of manufacturers.  I didn't realize that filter the spinning rods was clickable.

Give Gary Dobyns a call. He'll spend as much time as you want discussing his rods, powers, and actions. He'll also answer your questions if you post them in the Dobyns Rods forum.

Post this question under the Dobyns thread and let Gary answer it for more folks that would like to know.

I will ask this in the Dobyn's section.

After looking at all 31 rods on TW after using the filter, only one is a true moderate action rod.  The Kistler KLX Feel n Reel.  I'm sure it's a good rod, but I know nothing about it.

I've been browsing for a decent spinning rod for crankbaits too and the best one for value and quality that I found is the Falcon Bucoo SR Crankin' Rod. It comes in M/M and MH/M in a 7ft. length. It's pretty new so there aren't a lot of reviews but what few reviews there are seem mostly positive and for $100 it's priced pretty competitively IMO.
The only stupid question is the one you don't ask!

No matter how much we know about fishing there is always more to learn!

Sounds like a decent value for a spinning crank rod.  I'll check it out, thanks!

You might want to PM Kent (aka FloridaFishingFool). He is a big fan of Falcon rods and may be able to give you some insight on this one.

Falcon BuCoo SR   BRS-4-17 Cranker Spin. $100, plenty sensitive especially for moving baits. Mine with a Shimano Nasci 3000 ripped hybrid strippers last fall.
I'm not totally useless, I can be used as a bad example.

I just ordered this rod from Monster Fishing Tackle.  It had an extra $20 fee for shipping, so $119 total.  I hope to have it by this weekend.....

I'm late to the party but Denali has 2 spinning rods in the Kovert series that are mod or mod/fast.
