I've always cleared and reset my GPS equipment before selling it. Phones, GPS units, and chartplotters.

I recently purchased someone's Echomap and as a bonus I got his tracks on one of his fishing holes. He had only used it a couple of times so it didn't have much data and I wouldn't use it.

If you sell your chartplotter without clearing it, the next time you go fishing you may find your favorite spots are someone else's favorite spots too. ;D

Or it was done to keep you off your other honey holes!   ~roflmao

I would add not to post too much info on your honey hole!  It took me a while, but i was able to track down and guys honey hole near Nashville because of all his posts bragging about his big catches.  Probably never get there, but I would be willing to share LOL
There is nothing like sharing any moment outdoors with someone special!

Now you see, that is part of the secret to it here in central Florida...

I could sell my St. Johns River mapping unit with way points to someone and even if they could see where some of my spots are good luck getting back in there!

My boat drafts about 7 inches max. I can float into water as shallow as 1 foot deep. I can get past sandbars in the river. Bigger boats simply can not go as far... even if they know where the spot is.

I'd load it with spots that don't hold fish and put 7lb or something like that to name it, let waste time finding out. lo lo

Very sound info. Make sure you do the same with you car/truck/vehicle when you sell them also, especially if you have "home" set as a favorite.

Very true!

I live in the Orlando area but when I bought my used toyota it came with GPS. I tapped the home button and it showed me a map to Tampa right to the previous owner's front door!

It even had all of the places the husband went to on a regular basis and the wife as well in seperate folders. A mapping ability of their entire daily normal lives was in the GPS including where they work, where they shop, where they lived, where their kids went to school.

Good thing I'm not a stalker! Well, except on the water!  ;D

man, that's devious!  funny though.

as for me, I learned a LONG time ago that fishing someone elses spots just didn't work for me.  I can't catch them on their spots.  no shortcuts for me.  if I don't put in the hard work, I just don't seem to be able to make it work.

sux for me.  good though, for you all.   ;D

so with that off my chest, feel FREE to share your waypoints.  they're SAFE with me!
