Ok, now most of you...if not all of you will think this is a given, but I found out today not everyone uses this practice.
My buddy just received his new gps/ff unit yesterday and I told him I'd come over and help install it today.  When I got there this morning the wiring from his old unit was laying on the driveway!   ~rant

It took almost 2 hours and a few bloody knuckles to re-route all the new wiring through the hull! :bang

Here's the tip:  use some electrical tape and tape your new cables (power, transducer, GPS, etc...) to your old cables you're taking out.  Make sure you tape them well and you tape past the ends.  As you pull out the old, in comes the new all at once.  As you're pulling through and you catch a snag...don't start jerking.  Just work the cable softly back and forth and usually it will slip right passed the obstruction.

Pull an extra line along with the wiring and when you want to pull other wires through you'll have something to tie them to.

Old Fishermen never die, their rods just go limp.

Pull string or an extra wire- as mentioned.
When I have to wire something difficult, I always tie in a pull string and leave it there for next time.

I always coat the wire with Dawn Dish washing liquid It makes it much easier to pull thru the wiring harness.
