$100 bet

I go to the range so often the owner keeps a couple of my .45's in a drawer behind the counter. One is a nice Commander and the other is a POS 1911. It easily wins the ugly gun award. When my back is aching, I shoot from stool in the shooting stall. A 30 something starts making fun of me using a stool. I tried to be nice but he was ----well, you know. I finally said, if you are so good , let's make a bet. Go over to the rental wall and pick out the worst POS for me you can find. We'll bet $100 on most shots in the red at 75 ft.
He goes to the owner and asks for the biggest POS he has. The owner reaches into my drawer, hands him my 1911 and asks, how about this one. Well, the guy paid his $100 not knowing I've put probably 8000 rounds through that POS. It is an ugly POS but it is very accurate. Thought you guys would enjoy this story.

When I went to gunsmith school one of my fellow students was a Korean War vet whose biggest pleasure in life was taking surplus 1911s and accurizing them using original parts. He did some amazing things with some ugly surplus with a vise, "woops" punch and 4 ounce machinist hammer. No one wanted to make him angry!
