Have you ever been on the road and noticed the air in one of your tires is low? Cheap answer is to carry one of those compressors that plugs into the cigaret lighter, I found a good one for about 50 dollars and with the cord and air hose extension that can reach my trailer wheels.

See this is something I wouldn't think about posting but it's a great tip.

I too use a cheap air pump that I can plug into the boats 12v adapter (cigarette lighter plug).

This tip has saved me many $$$ in tires. Once at a ramp with a very low tire, there is no choice but to drive on it until you find a air source, more often than not it will ruin the tire.

Great tip Rodney ~c~

What gets me is how often the profile of the tires lie.

Tire looks low but not. I've fallen victim to this a number of times.

Son of a crap, why didnt I think of this? I do carry a jack that is like a mini version of a shop jack in case my truck or boat get a flat. Thats definitely worth the small investment. You ever try to wrestle with the chitty ones they give you with your vehicle?  ~rant
Plus, I always do a preday checkout of the trailer before I leave work the day before.
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

I thought this was going to be a joke about changing the air in your tires!

Good tip. The tough part on those 12 volt compressors is finding one that will reach a trailer tire. Double check the length before shelling out the money!

Hey Rodney,  Autozone carries a rechargeable air pump that you can carry back to the trailer.  I think it was around $70.00.  One of the guys in my Old Guys Club bought one.

Good tip. I once had to let about one third of the air out of my trailer tires to get a grip at the ramp to pull my boat out. A portable compressor will refill those tires on the spot. I also made up a heavy wire with 12V female connector on one end and battery clips on the other end. I can use this as an extension cord for my compressor.

I carry a Ryobi 18 volt air compressor in my truck that runs off of the battery for one of my drills, etc.  Bought it at Home Depot for 40.00.  Its a great little compressor that will also fill up beach floats and such.
