Hi everyone,
I have 2 questions in this topic.
Firstly, I use a DC806HSB since a few months. The annonces range is 2-8oz, but, when I cast 6oz bait, I feel the limit of the rod. The lure seems very heavy on the rod and I dare not force the cast. Am I the only user of this rod with this feeling ? It's my first swimbait rod, maybe I have to adapt my cast. A friend of mine cast 8oz baits without any problem. I would be happy to have your feedback on this rod.
Thank you for your help.
Vincent

Hi Vincent. You are really correct here. When rating rods there's a wide range and the rod will throw an 8oz bait with an adjusted cast just like you mentioned. This "lob" style of casting is common with the bigger baits (much bigger than 8 oz). But saying this all rods have a sweet spot. The DC 806 SB is best with 4 and 5 oz baits. A 6 oz bait will cast better with an 807 SB or an 867. If you're unhappy with this 806 and it's in good shape, I can always throw it in my rod box. I fish this model a bunch and can swap you. I'm trying to finish a new home build so if you want to take me up on this offer, email with a copy of this message and Brice will handle for me. THX!!!!!!

I can tell you that Gary made me an offer like this on one of my rods a few years back and he followed through.  Good customer service is hard to come by and I will be eternally grateful for how I was treated!

This level of customer support is why I've bought 19 Dobyn's rods since I got back into bass fishing two years ago!

Hi Gary,
Wouha, for a Dobyns addict like me having a reply from you is incredible, what a customer service !
Thank you so much for your offer but I'm french, so it gone be a little bit difficult  :)
Indeed, 807 would have been a better choice.
Thank you again Gary !

But, after reflexion, I love so much my 806, I cast 80% of my baits dedicated to northern pike, for the last 20% I will purchase a 867, to have a really different rod of my 806.

Vincent,

Keep us posted on how the 867 handles the Pike. If you have a specific question, I can get Gary to swing by, I think he's on vacation out west right now.

I'm still hesitant about my new rod. I can't decide between the 807 and the 867. I have a rather nervous cast and when a parabolic action hard swimbait rod is loaded I often have bad timing when releasing the reel line, and this sometimes leads to a backlash. I don't have this problem with fast rods. My question is. If the majority of my lures are between 5oz and 7oz will the 867 be very curved or behave similar to a fast rod. I don't know if I'm clear, it's not easy to explain with my level of English. Thank you in advance for your indulgence and help :)

I think I get what your saying Vincent.

Unfortunately it's not going to be very curved or fast, it's going to fall in-between there. If you are wanting something a little stiffer (faster) go with the 807. Being 6 inches shorter it's going to have less of a parabolic bend compared to the 867.

Thank you Mike,
Indeed you inderstood me !
You convinced me, I'll go on 807 especially since soft swimbait are post of my baits.
