It's a lot more fun when yesterday's baked beans, Hormel Chili and ~beer~ kick in while you're doing it.  :shocking: :shocking: ~roflmao >:D
The tree trick is catching a tree, preferably very high up with a 20 dollar bait and pulling the line tight, it forces the line taught squeezing the dirt out and giving you your exercise when you're ducking the big limb you just broke off.

I didn't know it was considered a 'trick'.

For some of us.............it's just part of an 'average day' on the water.  ~shade ::) ::)

And as far as the 'Professor Product', I use it on both new and used line (of ALL kinds) and it just seems to LAST/STAY on the line A LOT better/longer than other line conditioners.
I use it on ALL the lines I use (Mono, Fluoro, Co-Ply, Braid) and on every reel I use. (Spinning, Baitcast)

I can't EVER remember having to re-apply conditioner while on the water since switching to it.
Other brands I would re-apply often during an outing on the water.

It truly does AMAZE me how much 'dirt' adheres to braid!

Though cleaning the braid isn't something I am going to start doing, but I am curious about the line conditioner as a line conditioner. I use the KVD Line Conditioner and it seems to work well. I spray it on before every outing. Spray onto the line.

Is braid aid the same consistency as KVD or more oily? I like that KVD is kind of water based. Leaves no residue on the reel or line. But I would not mind finding a product that I don't need to use on my mono and fluoro before every single outing.

Rick, I would say that the consistency is very similar.  I have not detected any oily content to either KVD or Braid Aid.  I contend that the guidance provided in the instructions for application of the product may eliminate the need to spray the line before each trip.  With proper application via cloth, they are claiming that it will be good for 4000 casts before re treatment is needed.  The video that I posted earlier shows their recommend for how to apply.  They also tout that it is good for all types of line including fluorocarbon, mono and fly line.  I would imagine that the same type of application with KVD will probably work as well.  I think this is better than just spraying down your reel before each trip.  If you have not checked out the video you probably should.  If you did not see the link here it is again.

I did check the video out. I can't see myself doing all that lol.
I wouldn't mind using the cloth to add to new line. But once its on the spool, it's just gonna get sprayed down lol.

Well there you go.  Certainly your choice but why would you not want to follow the manufacturers recommendation.  It ain't a big deal to do  You don't have to do the entire spool just an amount equal to your expected best cast.

In all honesty, laziness lol.

Get it ;-)

Also I used line spray a while back.. honestly when I ran out I stopped using it. I don't think it was needed. Had no issues. Then again I only use braid 99.9% of the time.

Oldfart9999

Just strip the reel and toss the line in the washing machine with your favorite detergent, comes out nice and clean. ;D ;D

I have noticed that with periodical cleaning, usually every time I do the "Tree Trick", my line is much nicer and is lasting longer.
i'm not familiar with the tree trick... what is this ?

It's for making sure your braid is spooled on tight. Basically you tie your braid around the trunk, put your reel in free spool and walk back until all of your braid is payed out. Then engage the reel, keep as much tension on the line as you can and reel the line in, all the way back to the tree.  :)

Bud I recently went to the Walmart to do some groceries and an elderly lady was in front of me with a full cart. She then started picking out the essential items and having the cashier scan em. She got to about half the cart when I guess she hit her money limit. Realized she had something more important in her cart that was priority and started rummaging through the bags till she found something of less importance. She then did this another 2 or 3 times. About an hour later (or so it seemed) she finally had swapped out her groceries and had the right stuff in the bags. Told the cashier she didn't need the rest of the stuff and finally pulled out the check book. About an hour after that I finally got to pay for my items. LOL.
Now I could have moved to another line except its Walmart, and they generally only open just a few lanes depending on the time of day. Since this one was so backed up, the other open lane was about a mile long, only other lane open was the 10 item lane and I was well over that.   ~rant

It's nice to hear y'all do it for kicks though lol.  ~roflmao

As far as the braid cleaner, I go through line pretty fast, tying and retying lures and I just can't be bothered with all that cleaning lol.
Rick one of the nice things about being one of the old timers is you really do not have anyplace to be real important so you can enjoy getting behind someone like this so you can watch the show ;D

Going to do this for all the kids reels... soon as it's a touch warmer anyway.
