Grippy Handle Hack

I have found that wooden and plastic handles for various clamp on items are slippery when wet.  I also noticed that as I get older it is more noticeable.  I found a fix for this that is very inexpensive and doesn't take up too much time, you can do quite a few for a few bucks in an evening and they will be ready to go the next morning.

All you need is a roll of grippy shelf liner and a tube of contact cement that is available anywhere, I got all of my supplies for this project from one of the neighborhood dollar stores.  The blue tape is optional, and this hack actually works better without it.

Cut a strip of shelf liner the width of the handle that you want to cover, in my case it was about 2 inches wide, then measure and cut enough to wrap the handle.  Apply contact cement to both the gripper and the handle allow the drying time and then apply the liner to the handle, make sure you have it positioned where you want it before putting the two items together because it will stick on contact.  Allow to dry overnight and you have it.  One roll of shelf liner will do a lot of handles, in my case I used 3 of the dollar store tubes of contact cement, but I did a lot of handles.

I did a bunch of my woodworking clamps in the picture as an example of how it it looks.  You can even find colors to compliment or match what and where you are going to apply it.

Go to Home Depot and buy a can of Plasti Dip and spray the handles.
