Early/late production gearcase

I have a 1990 Johnson GT150
Mod VJ150SLESB
When looking up gear case parts noticed there r early and late pro gear cases.
How do you know which you have.

That's a good question... I'll see if I can find an answer?

I don't know either.  But.....This is how my problems started that ended up with a blown motor due to the use of an incorrect drive shaft.  Hope you have better luck.
