For those of you thinking about attending the rally at Lake Guntersville, here is some information about what happens.

The folks who attend this rally have become friends.  Not just on UB but in life as well.  We have all met the same way.  You arrive at the rally and in a very short time you will meet everyone.  You will find that the atmosphere of the rally is just a group of folks having fun.  There really is not a great deal of things that are planned.  We all know that eating some good food at the cabin and consuming a few adult beverages will be part of the deal.  The front porch sessions are continuous with lots of stories, jokes and even some in-depth discussions about fishing.  This session has traditionally lasted into the wee hours and often is the time when certain pranks begin to formulate.  Who knew that Flowerjohn would draw a flower on the bottom of Lee Smith's foot and who knew that the bathroom in cabin #1 had ghosts.

The first fishing day (Friday for most) begins with a pots and pan serenade from Lee Smith.  This tends to happen about 4AM.  Folks just get up and dressed and while some have breakfast and coffee others just head for the truck and get ready to go fishing.  We launch about first light.  As the boats scatter throughout the lake the text messages begin to get active with fish pictures and other such BS activities.  Some begin to post to UB to keep the home folks up to date.  While most return to the cabins about 2 or 3 PM some will return to the lake for an evening session lasting till dark.

Friday night folks get ready for the Saturday event, Eat some food, Tell some Stores and consume increasing amounts of adult beverages.  Some of us old geezer just stay with cola or something a bit softer although a snort of girl friend juice is appropriate.  Somewhere during the day the beer supply is re stocked and provides action well into the night.

Saturday begins again just as Friday and everyone is off to the lake for another day.  Similar to Friday the day usually ends about 3pm and most stay at the cabin and prepare for relaxation and a great Lee Smith Prime Rib.  Saturday Night is the traditional time for the "Drunk Calls"  to some of the people at home the by now wished they too had come to the rally.  Most folks are heading home on Sunday while a few stay and fish a bit before hitting the highway.

This event is not about winning anything, It is about good friends meeting on an annual basis just to have a good time and catch a few fish.  There has been no conflicts.  fishing is for fun and does not represent any type of marathon activity.  I don't think anyone is interested in any form of tough man competition although a little bad weather has not dulled the enthusiasm.

The cabins are well equipped but it would be advisable to bring a few extra towels and perhaps you may like your own pillow better. The cabins only have one bathroom with shower. Each cabin has a queen bed and the rest are bunk style deals.  Some folks prefer to sleep in the living room on the recliners or the sofa.  Well they sleep there anyway but that may just be where they landed after the girlfriend juice, Alabama martinis and other beverages of the home brew variety.  What ever it is just seems to work and I have not heard any complaints.

So there you have it.  Just a good time and not a fishing marathon.  It is a well balanced party that you probably won't forget and for some may be a great time that you don't remember.  See ya in October.

I'm calling dibs on that big brown recliner in the 1st cabin lo lo

That was the best sleep i've had in years. Of course the GF juice and pancake whiskey may have had something to do with that lo

Bud is right. I was honored to be able to attend. I was a newbie and had never met any of the guys in person before. Matt, FC, Lee and I had exchanged a few calls and 5000 texts or so lo but I literally felt like I was family. I got a few calls to hurry my slow arse to G and the moment I stepped out of the truck, I was greeted, hugged and handed booze. Not once did I feel like an out cast or newbie. I made some friends that I will cherish for life.

Now that the soft stuff is out of the way. Come for the booze. The fishing is just a side gig. The booze is where its at lo lo

Same here rock, that was my first trip and the only person I had ever spoken to on this site was Lee, and that was for my girlfriends LSCR, when he pulled up and got out of truck, he met me like we have been friends for years.
Then as every member came in, you could tell it was a great group getting together. I would have to say it was the best fishing trip I have ever been on.
Then the fridge opened and it became even greater.

Already claiming space?  If that is the case, Us old Geezers claim cabin 3 so we can keep away from all the rowdy kids in cabin 1.   ~roflmao

I'm in for cabin 3. Pepsi and lemonade is as rough as I go. But pranks are so much better planned by sober people.
