ok so here is a tip for you folks. i dont know if any one else does this.i will take a jig brand new out of the package and first thing i do is put a small zip tie around the collar to keep the jig skirt from coiming apart. i have jigs that i bought 2-3 years ago that are going strong.

I do the same thing on my spinnerbaits and any other baits that have skirts on them.

I do that too, although I am seriously considering hand-tying some to see how they work out.

I never thought about zip ties, great tip! I hit every jig and spinnerbait, anything with a skirt, with a drop of crazy glue right out of the package.

I just get my jigs wire tied with a small piece of wire, from Siebert Outdoors. Extra $0.25 I think.

I heard about zip tying not too long ago.

Before that I was tying with copper bait wire, or twist ties.
