I have just made a fluid bed for powder painting. Bought a aquarium compressor for the air supply but it seems that there is not enough air to get the powder to disperse properly. Any ideas what I may have done wrong??

Many folks use those aquarium pumps, so it should be sufficient. What are you using for your filter?

It seems from what I've read on various sites, getting the air distributed evenly so that it aerates the powder properly is a common problem with home made fluid beds.

The correction is often a matter of being sure everything is sealed properly so the air's not escaping without going through the filter, or using a different filter type, or sometimes changing the port location where the air is introduced. There can be other causes too.

I can't say I've had the problem as I purchased mine and use a regular air compressor for my air supply. I did have to add regulators & water/oil separator to be sure I was getting clean air & not too much pressure.

It might help get you some more replies & possible solutions if you could post some pictures of your fluid bed & set up.

All good suggestions, also you might try stirring the powder gentlely as you turn on the air, also don't overfill the cup. The sticky at the top of the page is a good place to post questions, that way they are all in one location making it easier to find answers.

Well live and learn, rookie mistake!!
I had a friend stop by today not really a fisherman but good with his hands. I showed him my fluid bed and told him the problem I was having, he looked at it for a few minuets than asked where the powder was I showed him he poured more material in the cup. Problem solved! I didn't have enough powder in it to make it work. Live and learn!
