I did a search but found only older threads refering to prior models, or threads mentioning the rods instead. I'd like to know what anyone thinks of the latest Carbonlite baitcast reel, the white one. I know people loved the gold one but the black one was spoken against at times on another site. Are there any known problems with the current models?

The description says it weighs just 5.8 oz. I'm not sure I can even get used to a reel that light. I am used to the older model BPS Extreme reels at 8.6 oz. and I still really like them, but every so often I just get the itch for something new. As a "justification" for replacing reels that work fine, my casting arm has recently been giving me a lot of problems with a stiff, painful elbow. A lighter reel seems like a necessity for now and later, both. However, I recently checked out the Abu Garcia Orra SX in a local shop, which is a little over an oz. lighter than my reels are now, but not nearly as light as the Carbonlite, and it felt like a toy in hand. I know it isn't, but it felt fragile. The Carbonlite is 1.5 oz. lighter again. How fragile will it feel? I'll  be casting everything with these, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, worms, jigs, and more. Heavier reels make me feel like they're built more robustly and can handle large spinnerbaits and other things better.

There is another thread on the forum somewhere, but my experience is this:
I have an earlier model, the black one, and love it.  It has performed flawlessly.  Last spring I bought a white one, and it was terrible.  No matter how I adjusted it, it just wouldn't perform.  I tried it for a week nearly every day.  I got no distance, no direction, lots of backlashes, and it just didn't feel right.
I took it back and exchanged it for a regular Johnny Morris and it works great.  I think it may have just been the particular reel I bought, but they were out of left-handed ones when I made the exchange and I didn't want to wait.  I sure wanted to like it, and have thought about trying another one, but I have a boatload of reels now and don't REELY need another one.  It certainly was the right weight.
