Not brain science but I've had good luck in the heat of summer by freezing a couple of bottles of water and putting them in the ice chest. As the day progresses and the live well begins to take on guest I drop in a frozen bottled of water and monitor the temp with a small swimming pool thermometer. Replace the melted bottles as needed throughout the day. Good luck!

+1 - have used this trick for a number of years.  Keeping the aeration on helps moderate temps in the livewell, too.

I've also done this for years with excellent results. When fresh water is added, more frozen bottles are added.
Ice can be used, but a chlorine removing agent needs to be added as most ice is made with chlorinated water.
