I am a temporary resident of Sumter, SC until late July and brought my ZX170 with me.  I am interested in participating in tournaments if I have the days off.  I was hoping someone could guide me in the right direction to locate these tournaments in the area.  I plan to fish some of the BFL tournaments is my schedule cooperates.

Your in a good locations with Murray to the west and Santee Cooper to the south. We have a few members that are familiar with the Santee area and hopefully they'll be by to point you in the right direction.

I would suggest making a trip over to Columbia and find an sports store and check out the fishing department, typically they will have flyers of up coming events. Do the same for Santee, I know Monks Corners is a fishing town and will have the information.

Tim, there are any number of events all over South Carolina.  I would suggest that you go to Carolina Anglers Team Trail  (CATT) and Check it out.  They also have Carolinas Bass Challenge (CBC) that is very well known in the carolinas.  The prizes are very good and the competition is stiff.  These are both team events and held on weekends.  His websites are available on line just google to get their addresses.

Otherwise, I would suggest visiting with the folks at Berkeley Outdoors in Manning or Moncks Corner for some suggestions for events that might be club or local oriented and would enable you to fish solo if you choose.  Berkeley also has a shop in Columbia that might have other information.

If you do get in touch with the CATT folks then talk to Brett (the owner) and he may be able to suggest some other places to look.

Thanks Mike and Bud, I plan on hitting Murray very soon and checking it out.  I need to purchase a new chip for my Navionics since the Louisiana/Texas chip doesn't cover this far.  Look forward to rip'n lips and making friends here in South Carolina.  I do miss my Louisiana waters already!

Tim,

I'm stationed here at Shaw and if you want to meet up or need anything while you are here don't hesitate to ask. Like Bud said the popular trail around here is CATT. It's not that expensive to fish and probably hands down the best run trail I have fished. They fish Murray, Santee and Wateree so you have choices.

I just got a look at my Feb and Mar  draft schedule...mon and Tues off.  A bit frustrating, even though I am here to work first not fish first.   How this changes by April.
