Ok,

TIP number (4)  ;D

Well anyone who had the pleasure of fishing NuJigs has come to realize how well they avoid getting snagged,
I throw them in the thickest part of 'Laydowns' I possible can find.
Well up here we have all natural waters and laydowns are abundant.
Not to mention loaded with BASS.
Now another thing you have to realize is.....THESE THINGS GET HAMMERED ALL DAY LONG!  :)
So doing something that will make your jig standout from everyone else's IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Well when chatting with Bo a couple of years back and talking fishing laydowns,  he mentioned a unique way to work it in laydowns.

So here is what I started doing....often.

You cast OVER a limb.
Then let the jig fall as you would do normally.
Then when you reel back in do it slowly and you will 'feel' the line over the branch and the jig 'swinging ever so lightly.
Now bring the line up until you feel it hit the branch with it's head.
(thanks to NuJigs design, the hook will now standout perpendicular to the branch, kind of like a square bill does when it hit's a rock)
Now I jiggle it for just a moment and then let it drop back down with out crossing the branch. (in other words, staying on the far side of the branch)
Now after letting it slide back down, continue to 'yo-yo' it up and down until you hit the branch, the jig stands out and then you drop again.

Often the hit will come on the drop but at times it comes at the 'stand out' time when it hits the limb.

YOU WILL FLAT OUT BE AMAZED HOW WELL THIS PRODUCES FISH and not just fish BUT BIGGIES!!!!

Now this one was my first BASS that year and I was Bassin since March 8th.  :(
Everyone was struggling that year.
But I had thrown into this laydown at least a couple of dozen times but I was just letting it roll over branches and continued the retrieve.
Slowed it down, did the yo-yo and BAM....had to yo-yo it like three times and bite came on the fall.
Used a 1/4oz. NuJig with a Rage Chunk.
And this was 'SHORE BUSTING'.
Now my favorite weights for this is 1/4 or 3/8.

Ok,"I'm reading your minds  :)"
'But doesn't it fray the line allowing break offs?'

Well break offs happen to anyone but first off, if your pitching trees you should be checking your line frequently.
Next you can use a line like Siege or Berkley XT or whatever your favorite 'abrasion resistant' line is.
Next this was caught on 10lb  LF Paralleium and as I said, I'd been tossing this tree for awhile...no retie...till AFTER I caught this fish, of course.  lo ;)

Now when I feel a bite I set hard because I 'PREFER' to get it up and over the branch immediately but that doesn't always happen.
Boat anglers, this shouldn't be a challenge at all, you run the same risk pitching 'any' tree/laydown.

But every now and then they wrap around a branch, suspended log.
From the year before in Nov.

You can see in the background the log I was pitching to.
It goes way out and the water goes completely under it.

This HOG wrapped itself around the whole thing.
I was sure I was going to loose it.
Thing kept swimming the opposite direction to unwrap it...like it knew EXACTLY what it was doing.
I fought/messed with this thing like 15mins  pulling it up till it's head hit the log, then it would 'freak and swim the opposite way AGAIN.
After yo-yoing it up and down, hitting log and swimming away back and forth it tired and it hit the log and OVER it went.  ~c~

Again I was using 10lb. Lake fork Parallelium.
Naturally I re-tied afterwards but again, I was flipping laydowns mostly all day and this one came AT LEAST an hour after last retie. (ya, I know, I HAVE TO RETIE MORE OFTEN...but I get so caught up in this fishing thing I forget/neglect too...plus I'm not the sharpest hook in the tackle box :))

OH, NuJig proof.

Yo-Yo the next tree you pitch........YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID!!!!!! ;D

Now in ending........ I WANT TO WIN THE TIPS CONTEST!  lo ;) lo

SO SOMEONE NOMINATE THIS TIP AND EVERYONE VOTE for it....PLEASE  ~roflmao
