Ok so this ain't really fishing related but, I occasionally like to pick around on my guitar. Have recently been turned on to cigar box guitars and decided.... I can do that. So, I am. Lol

Step one pick out a nice box:

Step two, cheat and order a pre-fabed neck with frets already installed. So I did. It should be in soon. Figured for my first try I'd take a few shortcuts. Plus this will give me a pattern. I'll build another from scratch & make the neck myself next time.

Will update once the other goodies arrive.

I played one once back in the late 80's and was surprised at the sound quality. Should be interesting to watch it develop.  ~c~

When you get it done a video so we can hear how it sounds would be cool if you can find the time.  ;) ~shade

Well I can play guitar but I know nothing about cigar boxes.  I'm assuming they are wooden and thus resonate and amplify the tones.

They'd gonna be awesome ! I've kicked around the idea also for a "gas can" banjo but haven't tried it yet. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Oh and definitely need a video :).

Still have some work to do to get it complete but it's put together & functional. Made a few mistakes but... As with any first attempt at something, It's all about trial & error.

I really didn't want to split the top b/c it was such a beautiful box. But I had no choice really based on previous construction decisions. Lol. Going to go find a few more boxes this week & make one all the way from scratch.
