Has anyone bought/used a Sixgill Reel? I was approached a while back by one of their prostaff about the reels. They only had LH models available at the time but RH models should be available after the first of the year.

There are only two casting reels in their product line. Both fall between the $100-$150 retail price points.

The LH model I played with at the expo was VERY VERY smooth and felt very nice in my hand. I'm hoping to get my hands on a RH model soon for product testing...

What are ya'll opinions on reels that aren't a popular name brand like Lew's or Abu or Shimano? I know there was a lot of hype about the 13 concepts reels, but I don't see many people talking about using them nor does anyone ever ask me about carrying them.

If anyone here has used one I'd sure like to hear your review/opinion on the reel. I'll have my own review soon hopefully. And may be adding them to my product line up.

Looks like its made by the same company that makes the 13 fishing reels. Almost identical to the concept series in looks. For me, if it dont say Shimano or Daiwa I dont have much confidence in it.
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

Yeah I thought the same thing. It does look a lot like the 13.

I have a Crius ($119.99 Retail) coming to me Monday for product testing. I'll give it a good work out and report back.

Im sure that will help for others to make a decision on the reel.

From the little bit I played with one at the Expo, I really liked it. It was smooth and light.

Carbon Frame. Quark Grips. Everything about it on the outside was nice. We'll see how it casts and holds up to some fishing though. Maybe I'll get fancy and make some videos for the youtube. lol

Ok so, I had an idea just now.....

After I've fished with this reel for a bit, gotten a feel for it... What if I did a reel demo program?

Free for Charter Members here at UB. Anyone not a charter member would have to put down a deposit, which would be fully refunded on return of the reel (pending any sustained damages).

I'll send it, you can fish with it for a week or two, send it back. Then share your opinions of the reel here on UB.

This would only be specifically for the Sixgill reel I've ordered, not just any reel.

So what do ya'll think?

That sounds like a cool idea.

Me personally, I wouldnt care what line size is on it.  But some may.  But, I would say if you put 10 or 12 on it, it would be multi-use.  At 6.3, for me that would be a worm type of reel or a squarebill which would also be in that same line size wheelhouse.

Just a thought.....others likely have better ideas.

Good thinking Joe. I'd probably strip my line off before I sent it & just let whoever put on it what they wanted.

That's a pretty good idea. Similar to TW demo program.
