I am working as hard as I can to put myself in the market for a new boat.  In one of my searches I ran across an 06 Legend 186 DC.  I have never heard of this boat and cannot find very much about it.  It appears,  from what little I have found,  that it is 19 foot long,  a beam of 94 inches, hull weight of 1350, and rated for a 200.  If this information is actually accurate,  this may be a nice boat for me.  It is a little older than I was looking for but with 185 hours on the rig and an excellent price,  I may consider it.  My problem is that it is too far away to go look at so I need to determine whether it is something that I am interested in before going any further.

Anyone familiar with this model Legend?

I thought the beam was narrower but that could be correct. Obviously Legend quit making them after building the slightly larger model.

It was a great riding boat, has all the exceptional detail of the larger versions, all the specs from transom built to hand laid hull. It's a very durable boat and handles nicely. Some say it's a rocket on rails when it comes to cornering.

Thanks Mike,

It has 185 hours on a Mercury 200 Optimax.  Do you think it is worth 10 grand?

That is low hours for a boat that is 9 years old, so that's good. However I'd definitely have it checked out. I will always recommend a Legend and a Mercury.... However, the 06 Optimax was nicknamed the Opti Pop because there were a lot of problems with them. Now those motors that would blow up would do so in the first 20 hours so this is obviously a good one but I felt I needed to say that. Just get it checked out.

If the boat is in good conditions I'd say it's worth it for sure, in fact I'd say you've found a very good buy.

$10,000 with a 200 opti is a great find, 185 hours on a 10/11 year old boat is very low.  Do as Mike stated and get everything double checked and do some research on the motor to see if/when/how many times it's had the top end replaced.  If never you should be very happy if it's been replaced find out why and when and if more then once run away from it.

The boat is a pretty good distance away from me, and I cannot get him to return my calls,  so I have to assume that it is gone.  I will continue to try,  but I don't have my hopes up.

Thanks for the advice guys.

At that price, if the motor checked out, it wouldn't last long.

Keep us posted if something changes.

2006 was the transition year for Opti-Max.
The first half of the year was the standard Opti, but the later half of the year is when the first Pro-XS models came out. My 2007 Legend has a late 2006 Pro-XS on it and runs good.
I looked hard at the LE-186. I see a certificate every now and then for a new one that folks are trying to sell. The last one was for $25000 or it could be used towards an upgrade.
May be an option. Good luck either way.
