Norman Speed Clips

This is probably more of a product review than anything else but I'm always surprised with the amount of people that have never heard of them. Basically, it is a type of "snap" that works as a split ring. I use it on all of my cranking set ups. You tie your line directly to the speed clip, then (after you've removed the split ring on your crankbaits line tie) snap the clip onto the crankbait. Just like that, you are able to switch out crankbaits.

I've been using them for at least 12 years and have never noticed them altering the action of my crankbaits and never had one fail on me.

As I'm looking at some of the online retailers, I noticed that there are other similar clips out there as well. I'd post a link to one of our site sponsors but I'm on a work computer right now and it won't let me open up any of thos sites to see if they carry them.

I've used speed clips off and on for many different presentations, they work well with a crane swivel laced on it also.

I have had two distort but not fail, which was amazing.

Great tip Steve. I use speed clips for all my crankbait fishing and like you have never noticed any issues with lure action.

I've used the Norman Lures Speed Clips for years on my crankbaits. First thing I do when I buy a crankbait is remove the split ring. -Jim

Hard to believe but yup, I've tried them all. They alter the lure's action and tend to collect debris. For me, the only one that functions as a lightweight split ring and is fast on and off is the speed clip. -Jim

With very little exception I remove the line-tie split ring from every hard bait I get. For the ones that are not tied direct I use the Norman Speed clips. I have tried other clips and the oval split rings but i always come back to the Speed Clips. Just a personal preference.

I really like the speed clips also. My biggest problem has been storing them so I can find em easy and not lose em. I may end up putting them in a pill bottle or something similar.

I keep a few clipped in the hook keeper on any rod I normally use them on. You can hook the lure right to one of them if necessary.

Yea I remove all of the line tie split rings in favor of speed clips to.

I heard about them here and love them.  Jim, great idea!  I need to use that.

I use them. Have for many many years.
I actually use both sizes depending on lure I'm using.

I wish they could be used with jigs but most eyes on jigs won't allow them or  on some the clip hinders the jigs free movement.

 I use speed clips but have found the clips that come on wiggle warts works just as well and are easier to open. Great tips for storing them, thanks guy's.
