What is the level compared to normal? Any info appreciated.

jwkuchar

It's about 2 to 3 feet below normal right now.

Texas Parks and Wildlife site posts weekly reports.

The web site for Caddo say the lake level is 166.8.  Compared to last year at the same time, it was 168.6.  My family has had a camp on the lake since 1956 and we always called 168 normal.  Hope this helps.  I will say that when you start seeing the stumps in Jeems Bayou, slow down, even in the boat runs.

Thanks for the all info, I looked at NOAA but I wasn't sure what was considered full pool.

Caddo Lake as of 10/22 was at a stage of 168.45ft.  Normal Pool is 170.00ft.
Ranger Boats aren't Skeeter-ed, Nitro-ed or
                       Triton-ed!!!

Like Harry said, 168.5 is the normal pool (also known as the conservation pool)for Caddo. When the water gets to 170 it is pretty high.

Reservoir - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reservoir‎
Reservoirs may be created in river valleys by the construction of a dam or may be ... Service reservoirs store fully treated potable water close to the point of distribution. .... the normal maximum level of a reservoir is called the conservation pool.

Here is the link I like to use that the corp of engineers update daily.

Hope this helps.

Has anyone been to caddo since the rain this week? Wondering how dirty the water is, thinking about heading there tomorrow.

I work at the power plant on caddo. The level today was 168.70 and the water is quite murky.

I hear a lot of salvinia is being pushed out. Any word on this?

Harry Jones

Drove up to my camp today and had to cross the Harper's Ferry bridge ( that's the Hwy 2 bridge going into Texas) and all of that salvania is gone.  People were fishing it like they always do this time of the year.  So, Jeems Bayou should be cleaning out.  Out in front of the camp, at Pelican Lodge, it looked fairly clean, and the Hwy 1 bridge area looked like it was moving toward the dam.  In a couple of weeks Caddo should be ok.  We will see if it happens!
