Miracle Strip Bass Club spent the weekend in Prattville AL fishing the Alabama River. This is about a 3-hour driver for most of us and a tournament location we really enjoy. This tournament was no different. We spent the day Saturday exploring those locations north of our launch site - Cooter's Pond. At the end of the day after hitting places as far north as the Jordan canal, we decided to head south from Cooter's on tournament day (Sunday). Airport Marine Tournament Trail fished Saturday from Cooters and based on what I heard the winner had 19+ pounds. Alabama Power generated power overnight and in doing so - dropped the water levels by more than a foot leaving much of available cover high and dry. We hit main river guts, sand bars and other cover we could find. My partner and I each caught a 5 bass limit and found many short fish willing to bite, but the larger keepers were fickle. My best 5 went 7.68lbs (second place) and big bass 3.62lbs.  Winner was a club guest weighing 8.70lbs. Can't wait to give this river another try later this year when the big bite is back on.
