With eye age and/or bad line memory I sometimes have trouble threading my line though the reel glide. I was on the boat with a friend one day that was having trouble doing this also; he said; there should be a tool for this; like in a sewing kit for getting thread though a needle. I told him I used a piece of line; doubled; passed it though the guide, then my line though the loop and pulled it though. I came home; found some light wt. s.s. craft wire; bent it around a small flat piece to make an eye in my loop. Twisted the wire together and cut off at around 4". Drilled a small hole in the end of a piece of dowel rod; glued the wire in the dowel. Painted a bright color so I don't lose. After I made this I found a tool for this in Bass Pro. I purchased one that last two pulls and broke. Too brittle.

Great tip ~c~ I also struggle with the line when restringing a rod. Often times I miss an eye on the rod as well and don't realize it until about the third or forth cast..
