Hey Everyone, first time post. I just picked up a 2014 pro 170 from a private seller. I did much research on the boat and noticed the major drawback of this model is storage space. So, since I need to wait to get the original title from the sellers financial institution before I can take it out, I couldn't just look at it everyday without playing. You all know what I mean. I came up with this solution, Step and Storage. The box is independent from the deck and can be pulled out as a whole unit. I was going to attach it to the deck, but right now it fits so snug that I may just leave it that way. I will need to see how snug it is after a day on the water. It fits 15 3600 boxes or 6 3700 and 3 3600, or combinations of both. I am trying to scale down on gear and just bring what I am going to need for that time of year, but you know how that goes. Last night I added a strip of elastic banding on the underside of the lids, stapling every 5 inches or so, I am able to stow pliers, clippers, sharpeners, ect. It was a fun project and just thought I would share for those of you wondering why tracker didn't just build the deck to the console.

Welcome to UB!  ~c~  ~c~

Gotta tell ya, I'd be tacking it down, one good bump on the road or one good roller and it's going up and awayyyyyyyyyyyy  ;)

Real nice set up though, I like it!!   Congrats on the new ride, enjoy!  ~c~

Thanks,

I have been trolling this site for a long time, just never signed up. It's definitely a very well thought out organized, informative site. Glad to be a member.

I agree with securing it, I am just waiting until I am the official owner of the boat. Kinda silly to have locks on the lids when you can just pry out the entire assembly. These types of transactions are tricky when there is a lien on a vehicle. When it is registered with the VDGIF under my name, then I will continue moding it. Foot well for the next project ;D

You did a great looking job on that upgrade , but I also agree it has to be fastened down .
Good luck with your new toy and I hope you can get it out on the water real soon.

Let Us Get To Know You

My friend who I go Crappie fishing with every year bought the 2015 TRACKER® Pro Team™ 175 TXW an dit's a great boat and it has a few draw back also but the deck does go all the way to the console.

Double check me but I believe that with valid bill of sale Virginia Law allows you to operate the boat on Va waters up to 30 days to allow time for registration.

Hey Princeton Man. Actually, I believe that VDGIF allows a 90 day window to use the craft without titling it. It's just a form to fill out by both parties. VDMV may be 30 days for the trailer, but I'm not sure how I could use it. The previous owner let me trailer the boat home with his plate, but he wanted it back so he could get a reimbursement from the DMV, so I am with a trailer without a license plate. VDMV said they will not register any vehicle without a title. It could just be the person I spoke with. This whole transaction has been a little wacky, there is certainly an amount of trust involved. Even though I never met the seller, you can tell right away all he wanted was to sell his boat with no other agenda. Hopefully I will get the titles within the next week. I just want to get into the October bite. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing. I want to do something similar to my PT175. The only difference being I wanted to bring mine flush to the deck. Looks great.

Thanks for the kind words. I was torn between going to top of the deck and doing it this way. I knew that if I went to the top, I would load the boat with more tackle and I am trying to avoid that this go around. Also I liked the idea of a step, it kinda looks like it was designed that way :). I have a cooler that fits perfectly between the console and deck, and the dog likes laying in that spot while I'm playing with the boat, so maybe that will be her spot when we are out. It's ok as long as you can wash her off before she gets it all over the boat. ;D
