One word can sum up the fishing at Walnut Creek last week.........weeds.

I know the saying "find the grass find the bass". Walnut has too many weeds, it makes it almost unfishable in my opinion.

As for the actual report. The water temps were in the low 70's, conditions were cloudy and winds were out of the nw at 10-15. catching fish was difficult for me and most of the anglers I talked to on the water. The fish that were being caught were generally in the 10-12" range. Most were less than a pound. A variety of tactics were attempted, plastic, jigs, crankbaits, frogs, and spinner baits.

Caught one about 21/2 pounds on a spinner bait but could not duplicate the bite in similar areas. I think the screwed up weather we've had, had alot to do with the terrible fishing.   :help:  There were some reports that the bass were on the inside weedlines (between the shore and the start of the main weed mat) where the bass were blowing up the frog but none would take it.

I think I'll try another lake in the coming weeks, Walnut is just getting hammered with shore anglers and boats alike. It's awesome to see all the fishermen out and taking in what nature provides though.
