Good evening all,

What a great forum to talk everything bass. First time poster here so I'm really looking forward to all the feed back.

I am nearing retirement and the little woman has given me the go ahead to buy a retirement bass boat. I've never been one to buy new but I'm a little out of my league purchasing a used bass boat. I live on the Texas Gulf Coast and the 18 ft aluminum tunnel has served me well fishing the grass flats in the bays for red fish but the time is near to move north and get back in the lakes.

I have been looking at a 2007 Nitro 591 SC in a classified ad and would like some expert advise and opinions on this boat. I will be driving up to look at it in a couple of weeks so I really know nothing about the actual boat listed. The posting says it's got the usual accessories, 2 depth finders, trolling motor, etc. and a Merc. 150 efi with less than 50 hrs on it. It also says the boat has been garage kept. The seller is asking $10000 for the boat which seems reasonable if not somewhat low.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all in advance,

Mike G.

 Mike,
First welcome to the UB family, lots of good folks here. We love photos of your catch. As to your boat if you have a link to it please post as a picture is worth a 1000 words. The nitro experts will be along shortly to really give you the low down. Again welcome.

Thanks for the welcome!!

I haven't been in a lake in about 10 yrs, can you believe that? I'll have to scan some pics to post. I got a  good one out of Lake Fork years back, 12-9 she was. Beautiful fish...

Here's a couple of pics of the boat. I'm trying not to get too excited over the pics. I looked at a boat last year that looked really good in the pics but turned out to be more of a project boat.

I've heard good things about Nitro's but I guess I'm a little concerned about it being 6 yrs. old already.

Seems like a good deal for sure! But like you said pictures can be deceiving. Have a independent mechanic of your choice look it over. Check for carpet wear and such and how clean it is. People who care for things tend to keep them cleaner than those that don't.

Here's the value:

I had a 2008 Z7 which was basically the same boat as the 2007 591.  It was a good boat for the 4 years I owned it.  Mine had the 175 Pro XS on it with a jackplate.  The only problems I had were seat seams separating early on and coil packs on the motor.  Both handled under warranty.

As others have said, get it checked by a mechanic, look in the bilge area and under the tubs in the back.  Earlier Nitros were not fully glassed in around the livewells and under the tubs.

With that motor the boat will run close to 60 give or take a little.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks E5Zero. Checking the bilge and under the tubs is just the type advice I was looking for. Not knowing what's glassed and what's not is great to know.

Did you have any electrical issues? How about the switches, gauges, latches, hinges, aerator/bilge pump, etc?

My boat was a year old when I bought it, had it 4 years with no real problems with anything.  One thing I had to check regularly were the screws under the rub rail, they will back out from rough water.  Some remove them and add silicon or something to keep them from vibrating loose.  I considered it routine maintenance.

Holler if you have any questions.
