Ok guys, so I just got back from fishing Falcon Resevoir...

Didnt do great, those that did fished jigs almost exclusively...

I love fishing jigs, but I would advise you to make your own jigs because the areas you need to fish them are extremely hard to fish them without getting hung up, so here comes my question...

If you are using a heavy wire hook, and make the jigs yourself, approximately how much are you putting into each jig if you make a large batch of them all at one time?

By large batch I am thinking 75 or more.

Thanks!

It's been a while since I've done this. But by the time you get all the components to include the skirt it was still less than a $1.50. Now that's if you don't include the cost of the mold.

Take a look at Netcraft for example, they have everything you'll need and you can price it out.

My friends that go down to Falcon several times a year have found that Oldhams football head jigs work best for them. They can usually fish 5-7 days on less than a dozen jigs. When I went, I used Custom Lure Unlimited's Ammo jigs, they were awesome, paint held up and came through the rocks without hanging up. I think I only lost one in a five day trip although we were on a deep cranking bite and I lost half a dozen or more 6XD's...just a couple options for you to look at as far as design when building your own

Mike, dont worry about the price. Just think of the fun in making your OWN jigs. Then the thrill of catching bass on what you made. ( I still get excited when I catch bass on soft plastics I have made )

I will swap you some of my crazy craws ( for trailers ) for a couple of your jigs ( once you buy the kit lol )

Lets do Harris Chain soon, got my tourney there next month

Check out a couple of our sponsors:  NuTech jigs really are hard to get hung up and Siebert Outdoors has great prices on individual parts.  I think their jig heads with a weed guard/hook are only a dollar each depending on style.

Which sponsors jigs are a dollar?
Are you reffering to the Nu-Tech Jigs?

I would love to look into them for that cheap, may only need a skirt collar tool and a bunch of skirts...

@Rodney, All you got to do is drop me a call, I am in the last week with my employer, starting my new job on the 29th... Work schedule will be very flexible after the 29th...

Thanks!

Thanks for all the info guys...

These are the type of jig I was looking for:

http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/index.php/big-o-jigheads

Very similar to Jo-baby and Oldhams jigs with a combo (5 Pack) for $8.25!!!

Not shabby at all!

I have also asked to look at the NuTech Jigs as well...

I will tell you what I think after I get my grubby paws on them.

Cheers!

I bought a Lee Production pot, 300 hooks, weedguards, and material for skirts for about $300 from Jann's NetCraft. I had, and still have hundreds of pounds of lead I've scrounged over the years but you can purchase lead off e-bay for decent prices, Tackleunderground, under wire baits has a long thread on lead and sources of free or cheap lead, safty in pouring lead, and tips for the problems that rear their ugly head. For my skirt material I go to Jann's, for bucktails Barlows, for hooks I'll most likely go to Capt. Hooks, for powder paint Powder By The Pound or CS Coatings(the little 4 ounce jars are waaaay too expensive). There is only one small detail to remember; IT IS VERY ADDICTING!!! But it can be very enjoyable.
