tip for loose bunk boards at ramp

I carry big zip ties at all times.
If you have a loose bunk board just zip tie it until you get home.
Some of mine have been zip tied for months with no problems.

Great tip Bass Fishing Fool! I've started keeping 12" zip ties in my tool box on the boat, they're strong and have so many uses.

I've had a bungie cord holding one of mine together for a year. I will change it out for a zip tie!

I had Bigwrench duct tape one of mine last year at Lake Norman... A bolt on the rear outside bunk worked it's way out. I discovered as we launched. I had a spare bolt but not enough tools to tighten the nylon locknut. So he wrapped it real good in duct tape.

I need to jack the boat up and replace the bolt properly before the tape wears out.

Just do as Red Green would do, and add more duct tape.

Good tip. I never thought about a temporary "holder" but like the zip tie idea. I had a bolt drop out of one of my bunks and I was lucky it was at the front so I was able to hold the bunk in alignment while my buddy drove the boat up on the trailer. Later when I replaced both bunks and put in new zink coated lag bolts I used a drop of JB Weld placed on the bolt head and the trailer frame. That should keep the bolts from ever dropping out plus I now check for a loose bunk each time I am at a ramp. The small drop of JB Weld will not prevent me from removing a bolt later if needed.

One of mine came loose last week at the ramp. I was pretty embarrassed with all the people around with their fancy boats. The only thing I could find was some ear plugs from work, the kind attached by a string. I tied the board back on which worked just enough to get the boat back on the trailer. Wish I'd had a big zip tie. Great idea. This weekend I replaced all the boards and used new hardware. Hopefully won't have this problem again any time soon but I'll have to grab some large zip ties just the same. They are handy.
