Fisher of Men

I dont think these guys will have a problem catching a limit of fish, but whoever finds that 3-4lber each day will do well.  With that many awesome anglers on one river. someone will hammer them.  Just watch and see
Choose today who you will serve, but as for me and my house; WE WILL SERVE THE LORD.

Oh there will be fish hammered, but I am still hearing long runs..

As far as finding the clean water... Don't forget most of these guys are paying for realtime satellite pics.. No clear water is hidden.

The Bassmaster page says Gerald Swindle boated 354 miles in 2.5 days!! That should tell you how serious they are about "running to Win"... :-) Shawn thanks for all the posts- have been keeping up w em!! If I didn't have a tourney and work this weekend would have loved to come down and watched a weigh-in!!

I haven't got alot of good info since the 1st.

Much of what they have been doing in the Sabine and the Calc is eliminating water... Many of them are running to stuff they haven't touched since before off limits

Looks to be a rough one - even worse then thought.  Seems low tides and north winds have created a very shallow and dangerous fishery.  Alot of tore up lower units - and Rains up north are moving down with a slug of cold muddy water.  Finding clear water is going to be tough.  Gonna be alot of excuses at the weigh in!

They gonna wack em today. Low tides are gonna have the fish eating. For those that were going into the marsh areas, they pretty much screwed. The canal fisherman and those fishing the cuts are going to have a fun day of fishing. The biggest thing here is getting keepers and that's what is tough.

The generators at the T-Bend dam have been shut down since the 1st of the month, and the spillway is releasing the minimun flow. No cold muddy water is coming down the Sabine. If anything, it would help clear up the Sabine since the lake is very clear right now.
The river will be a little low due to the north winds the past few days, but thats going to change today with the south winds returning. The fish are going to reposition with the raising water making it tough on someone who found fish in the past few days.
Gonna be interseting to see how it turns out. They shoulda came back to T-Bend, it's smoking right now. We'd have been seeing some 30+ lb sacks coming in.

All I know is what I saw online: "Tietje explained that heavy rains upstream on the Sabine have produced a surge of muddy water coming down the river, which drains into the Gulf of Mexico. The rising tide from the Gulf is meeting the muddy water and forcing it into the backwater areas, where the best fishing had been previously"

From the looks of the fish catches - alot of dinks - barely keepers,  except Ish has some good ones.  I had Ish and then changed my mind. Figures.  Some guys like Swindle and Elias have no fish.  I bet they're not alone.  A limit is going to be tough - wow.

It's not all about bright lights and big sacks. I for one applaud B.A.S.S. for putting them on this system. It is a giant test mentally, physically and on their equipment. I will enjoy watching this event play out as much, if not more than Falcon.

You're right longdraw, it's not all about the huge sacks. It is interesteing to see how the big boys do on a place I fished for over 40 years.
Watching the weigh in now and all I can say is WOW.

Soooo McClelland is 114 miles away(by road) in the suburbs of Houston. What a RUN!! And really weird(like they just "randomly found the SAME THING) Kriet, Rojas, and Jones are in the SAME 2-5 mile creek arm!! How the heck does that happen??????? Yet again they are catching "numbers" but no "keepers".

Yesterday Herren , Teitje and Rheem were even Farther all Close to the same area.

The biggest thing that puts these guys in the same area is Research.......  Internet reasearch on all the Tourneys in the Region and what kind of weight it takes to win.....

The next thing is Networking..........  They get lots team info and then help from Locals....

I know everyone wants to Beleive they always find the fish on their own, but it doesn't happen that way.

SonofDitka

So much for "no problems for catching their limits" talk. All of two guys managed to boat 20 keepers and they didn't even win!
The only things that matter in life: Jeeps, guns and fishing.

-Shawn-

Yeah there is a TON of Small Fish down there............  Most were catching 20-30 fish a day but most were short.........

CoachLP2

Shawn, it's funny you talk about local help and info.  I was standing on the bridge nearby Kriet, Jones, and Rojas, and all of us kept saying they we couldn't believe that the pros were fishing in Bayou D'Inde!!
That has been rating one of the most polluted bodies of water in the country at times and almost nobody fishes it.  I'm sure they got a bit of help from someone, but I just keep thinking how 'home field advantage' is almost a bad thing in BASS tournaments.  We did all agree that it will be quite crowded this weekend!  I was so excited to see them tackle this area this year.

God Bless,

Coach

Alot of these guys spent 2 weeks driving around checking stuff they found on a sattelite photo.  Combine that with Local and team info and they knew which areas had the largest fish...... Knowing that it doesn't get fished  would clue them in that Larger fish would be available.
