Just a simple question...what method do you use? (if any) I cant remember after several trips what test
line is on those 8-10 reels in the boat. Mainly fluoro, braid, and a couple mono rigs... I have tried every thing from sharpie markers to small tape labels... :(

Is ther a better system out there that doesn't permanently mark the reel?

This is my system, it works for most rods. Staples sells 3/4 round white labels 24 per sheet. I write the lb. test and type(FC-Floro,FCC-floro coated,M-mono, B-braid) and stick the label to the butt end of my rod. I check them every so often for wear and fading and freshen with my sharpie or just change it out, seems to work well for me. Hope this helps.

I use sticker lables and stick one on the underside of the reel, mark the line weight on the sticker and then apply clear tape over the sticker to keep it water proof.
The stickers last for a few months, then I just replace them.

I watched a video about this and the the guy was using the white sticky they use on spools of line. You can use a ball point pen and it wont come off until you want it to. It's also small enough to not look obnoxious on the reel.

I use an office type clicker label maker. I use different colors for different line types and then stamp the date and test strength on the label. Wipe the bottom of the gear case with some iso alcohol and stick it on there. It will stay all year, water won't bleed it out, it won't disolve and it's easy to peel off when i want to change it by lifting a corner with a blade.

One of the ABA sponsors has a system of small stickers just for this. You can attach em to the reel or rod. I haven't used em yet but they sell em at Bass Pro Shops. I think you get a couple hundred in the pack. They are called "Bass Minders" Line Reminders.

That sticker idea is not a bad one - I have been wondering sometimes what the hell is this line's lbs :)

This will help me to be more effective on that.

Thanks

tackle warehouse sells them with pre--printed typed letters.   ie 8F is 8 lb fluoro.  not sure if i should link to them, im sure other places have similar deals.  if ordering they are pretty cheap, stay on all year and done fade

I do the exact same thing.  Minus the abbreviations, I just use F,M,B

I like the stickers on the butt, but if it were on the reels, then you can change the reels and rod combos and you would always know what line you have on there.  I usually have only 8 rods out, only 4 different line sizes, though.  So they are easy to determine.  4 rods have the same # braid test.  Then, I have the 25# flouro, 15# flouro, 8# mono, 15# mono.  It is easy to tell them apart, so I never really need the system, but it would come in handy if I had more rods probably.
