Has anyone ever used VMC hooks? They look pretty good for the price and Ike's name is on them.

The VMC VB9650BZ is my favorite treble hook.  They're sharp, strong, and don't cost an arm and a leg.

I like them.  No complaints at all.  I'd put them in line up with Gamakatsu and Mustad Ultra points.

I use them almost exclusively on all my cranks.  They are inexpensive and very sticky.  I'm also a big fan of the barbarian out barb hooks, a bit more $ but they are legit.

I'm a fan of those hooks too! Funny, but most folks seem to be put off by the barb being on the outside, however, once you use them, it makes perfect sense!

I've been using VMC hooks for many years. When I was in the tackle business, most anything I molded for panfish was on a gold VMC Aberdeen jig hook. I could buy them at that time for less than both Mustad & Eagle Claw & they were a sharper hook IMO.

I like their 9255 O'Shaughnessy style saltwater plated hooks for tying flies & making spinner baits & even molding some jig types. IMO, it's a far better hook than Mustad's 3407 which is what I used for many years. I still use the Mustad's but prefer the VMC's!

The 9250, 9626 & the 8574 Barbarian trebles are what I use on most of my saltwater lures, and I replace trebles on bass lures with them as well. I bought some out barb straight shank worm hooks awhile back that I like for spinnerbaits, buzzbait's & for tying big bass & brackish water flies on for both LM bass & Striped Bass. I believe they're now discontinued, but I have a good supply.

I actually got them rather cheap, as other folks didn't seem to want them, likely because of that out barb. Their loss!

The VMC 9170 & 9171 Siwash hooks are very popular with the folks who make & use big wooden surf lures, as well as other lure types, such as spoons. Great hook for dressing with hair or feathers & they're a very strong & sharp hook. The 9626 treble in the Permasteel finish is another very popular hook with the surf folks, again because they're strong & sharp. Big Stripers have a tendency to bend most other trebles.

Since it's introduction on the Rapala X-Rap lures, I've become a fan of the Sure Set Trebles too, and now VMC has added a saltwater version.

They also make several worm hooks that are very good, although I prefer Owner's for worm hooks. The VMC's are less in price so if you're not inclined to pay more, they're an excellent alternative. They do have one offset worm hook that I really like, as it has a longer front shank section. Some of us fly flingers tie flies on worm hooks & those with short front sections are hard to tie on. The VMC 6319 is perfect for tying. I'm sure VMC had us in mind when they designed it!  lo

VMC is not the only brand I use, but they do have a very good line of hook products.  ~gf

I was looking for a 6/0 round bend worm hooks and VMC had some.  The order just came in and I have to say they are very well made with a good amount of metal in the hook, point is not the sharpest out of the box I have seen, but good just the same.  They have gone another step and have put a dab of some thing hard on the hook eye to close the hole so braided line cannot slip through.

Tried them in some 10" worms and the fit is perfect, but I think these would make great flipping hooks with thicker baits like beavers and I might give them a try on buzz frogs as well.

Vmc hooks seem to last the longest without rusting,I can't stand a rusty hook

I tired their feathered treble hooks and lost 5 fish on them in about 30 minutes. Switched back to gamakatsu treble and didn't lose another fish. Never bought another since.
