So I think the ethos express rods and H20 mettle reels sound good for a good cheao combo! Seems like nobody on the forum has anything negative to say about them. Also heard of a manic reel coming in more gear ratios? What gear ratios(mettle or manic or something in the price) do I need for various ethos rods? Like the crankbait rod, a worm rod, and a camo rod(all purpose)? Please help me out, zero experience with baitcasters..

I'd go with the Mettle in 6.3:1 for all three rods for the versatility.  6.3:1 is a good ratio for most applications, and when you're just starting out with baitcasting gear it's a good idea to keep it simple.

The Manic is available in all three most common gear ratios, but I can't say much more about it since I've never handled one.  It looks like a lighter Mettle with fewer bearings and a metal drag star, and if the internal design is the same it'll be one heck of a reel.

Honestly I think it is hard to go wrong with one of each 7' rods.  The crankbait rod is great for smaller cranks and squarbills.  The MH is a multipurpose rod that I do many things with ranging from T-rigged baits, bigger cranking, chatterbait, etc.  And my favorite in the 7' H, I have it loaded up with 50lb braid and flip and pitch grass and timber.

Honestly I think you will like these rods and find that they do anything you want them to do.  As far as the Manic reels go, I have no experience with them.  I would however recommend a low speed reel for cranks and a high speed reel for flipping/pitching.

When it gets to be topwater time again you may want to check out their newest offering, it's a 6'10 MH.  I just picked up a couple the other day and they are legit.  They have plenty of tip to walk a bait but lots of backbone to move a fish.  I will be using it for jerkbaits and flukes until the top bite is back.

The 7'10" rod is also a great rod, it's diameter is slightly thinner and I believe it weighs a pinch less than the KVD rod that costs triple.

Anyway you go with these rods, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the product you ended up with.  It will make you realize the difference between the words cheap and inexpensive.

Also I forgot to mention, I have zero experience with the camo rod.  It is not an Ethos, the blanks are different.  They look and feel similar, but the camo rod is IM6 where the Ethos is IM8.  Plus the blue looks cool.

Do not get the camo rod. The blue are better an come with more variety such as the cranking rod which I have. I also had an issue with my mettle reel. The drag got messed up (my fault). I took it back to academy and traded it in no problem.

Thanks yall. Here's the link to academy sports ethos http://m.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogSearch?langId=-1&storeId=10151&N=97010080+4294966997&catalogId=10051
I don't sew a 7'10 rod. I would be interested in that, a H or XH would be a good cranking rod?
Out of these rods, what's the best worm,  swimbait, cranking rods? Thanks

The 7'10" rod is  MH.  I use it for my deep cranks.  The 7'6" XH is an awesome rod.

Worm rod: either 6'10"MH or 7'MH
Swimbait?  Are you talking hollow bellies or Hudlestons?  Hollow=7'MH Huds-7'6XH
Crankbaits: 7' or 7'10" depending on bait size and depth.

The early bird may indeed get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese
