Drop shot rod and reel

I'm getting a new rod for drop shoting and wonder what are some pros and cons. Currently I'm using a 6'6 Gl2 that's 5 years old. I'm thinking on getting a shimano C14. I know I want a 7'6 rod minimum. This was my go to technique in tournaments this year so I want to excel it a bit more by a new rod. I was thinking or getting a NRX but I'm fishing as a co angler for 1 more season and then ill have lots of rod storage so I kind of want to hold off for 1 year.

Man u already have a nice DS rod, everybody I know DS rods r between 6'6"-7' but I'm sure u have your reasons for a longer rod. As for a reel, u r on the right path, any reel that says shimano would be a good choice.gl
