Doc on the end eye I use epoxy, although most sports stores sell a glue that you heat put it on the rod and then slide the eye over it. for the eyes on the rod you use a drop of super glue to hold it on then wrap thread around the keeper nice and even then put the thread color preserver on , then the clear glue that protects and covers everything. before wrapping the thread you need to lay a big loop down on the rod then wrap the thread over that when you finish put the end of the thread through the loop and pull the end of the thread under the wraps.
when you put the glue over the thread you will need to rotate the rod slowly to keep the glue from dripping and making a glob on the bottom. I set up a hair dryer on low and just spin the rod slow until the glue is stable.
Or you could just call J.R. and go over to his house and use his rod building equipment. ;D ;D If that fails just get the stuff and come to my house and we will do it the old fashion way. :'(

papa, i like the epoxy idea, but if the new eye ever fails, can you get off the eye that was epoxy-ed on??  or is it a one shot deal??  this glue stuff, is it like string wax for a bow but harder??  what brand eye do you like??  i have seen fuji, but that appears to be the "cheaper" one.  is there a better one??

thanks so much and when the sun comes up saturday morning, i will be on the water.  "woops"--i might just spend the nite friday nite and become "one with the fish!!"

drop it deep and yank it hard.

papa, one more thing------

do i need to get a certain size tip for a certain rod??  is the "tube" that i put down over my rod a universal size??  or do i need to get a certain size??  if it is too big, can i crimp it with a pair of pliers or something??  b/c all o fmy rods are in texas, but i am going to heaven (bps) today and i will not have my rods with me.  i have about 7 rods that are missing the ceramic insert inside the tip eye.  isn't it funny how we will ruin a $75 rod jamming it into a tree top to save a 10 cent hook and bullet weight??  man--that should be listed in murphy's law or something.

if i do need to get a certain size tip, how do iknow what size i need w/o takig my rod with me??

thanks again and hope to see all of yall soon!!

Doc epoxy comes off fairly easy with just a little direct heat, usually a match will do it.
I do not know how you would fit a rod tip without knowing the size, just buy several sizes or ask the guy in BPS. I use whatever tips I can find as long as they are the right color and size and are ceramic.
Yes on the rod tip glue, like string wax only harder
don't use it so I don't know about brand.

so let me get this strait.  you are concerned with color coordinating your rods with your guides and eyes??  man--what a TYPE A fisherman.  hehehehehe

i amheaded to bps this afternoon to get some eyes.  i will assume that they probably have the best assortment of anyone in town.  probably in every color, huh??

drop it deep, yank it hard and make sure to not mix plaids and stripes!!
