Profile:

Fishing is something that has been instilled in me since the day I was born. My father (Art Singer) had been fishing professionally since 1975 and is known throughout the world of fishing as the one to ask, follow or beat.  He has about three hundred trophies displayed in his house that still amaze me every time I see them.  His knowledge of every rock pile, dock and hump from Lake Okeechobee to Lake Erie is what gives me the edge as his partner in team tournaments, as well as, his student when I'm practicing for an upcoming Bass Master's event or FLW series event. I started fishing bass team tournaments with my father in May of 1990 at the age of fourteen on the Connecticut River and in that tournament we placed 2nd.
After high school I took a sabbatical from fishing and spent the next four years in the United States Marine Corps. I served as a squad leader in the infantry in Bosnia. In 1999, after my tour of duty was completed, I returned home and began chasing the dream of being a professional bass fisherman.
I currently own a fence company in Connecticut and fish bass tournaments every weekend between the months of March and November. Being a business owner has helped me a great deal in my quest for fishing competitively.  It gives me the freedom to fish and promote the sport as much as I need to.  Owning my own company has also has taught me the importance of being a good salesman.  With this life experience I have realized that my ultimate goal in life is to compete, as well as, promote bass fishing at the highest level possible.

I like the fact you start your resume with your name (the most important couple of words in a resume) and your contact information.  If a potential sponsor wants to reach you, but does not know how - your resume is ineffective.  That is not the case here.  Good job!

Some good resume examples can be found at the following location:

http://www.exampleresumes.org/occupational/restaurant-manager.html

Good first cut on Profile.  I'd continue to modify it and attempt to cut it to about half it's current length.  Thanks for your service!!  Sounds like you have a plan to make your dreams a reality which shows me that you know how to make the transition talking and planning to actually "doing".  Self motivating - I like it.

What you can do for your sponsor - you have mapped your individual road to success - do the same for that sponsor.  How many fishing, boating, outdoors events are there within a 100-200 miles of your home in 2009?  By that I mean those you could easily attend and represent a potential sponsor?  Who will you give presentations to? (bass clubs, youth groups, etc)  Have you mapped out a list of potential businesses in your region that you could visit - how many businesses are on that list?  How many tournaments will you be fishing and how many of those are 100+ boat tourneys?  Numbers quantify and add concrete to that straw house.

Looks like you already have a few sponsors and are fishing a pretty heavy schedule this year.  I wish you good luck - your resume is coming along just fine - these things can always use tweaking and tweaking takes time.  Work on it when you can and look forward to looking it over again in the future!!
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small.
