Background:
My name is Andrew Sams I am 18 years old and the 2008 Jr. Maryland State Champion as well as the 2008 BASS Federation Nation Mid-Atlantic Division Champion. I will be fishing the Junior World Championship in November of 2008 in Milford Kansas. I was born in Montgomery county MD but now reside on Maryland's beautiful eastern shore in a small town by the name of Easton. I am currently enrolled at Chesapeake College. I graduated from Easton High school and played varsity football through high school. I take school very seriously and I plan to go to Frostberg University in the spring and possibly do future work with Marine Biology or possibly working for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), As well as have a future in bass fishing. I am son of Karli and Randy and step son of Mike; I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. I take fishing very seriously and my parents are very supportive of this, I have been competing for about 4 years now and this upcoming year I plan to fish through the Maryland Bass Federation and the Bass master Northern Opens. I am part of the Jr. Pro-Formance fishing team, and the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Maryland State Team. I will be fishing the Junior World Championship in Milford Kansas November 7th and 8th. I spend the majority of my time fishing the Potomac River, the Nanticoke River, the Upper Chesapeake Bay as well as many of the Reservoirs and smaller lakes throughout Maryland. I have done a lot for my only current sponsor this past season gaining over 75 sales combined to individuals as well as acquiring product sales locations(Tackle stores).. Many anglers my age don't know the first thing about a sponsorship and how to promote products, and that it's not just about getting an angler to buy the product, but getting across to them by giving them confidence in using the product by telling them stories about personal experiences using it. My way of seeing it is that it's no use promoting something to a person who will not continue to buy and feel confident in using it. I can imagine the number of emails you receive each and every day regarding sponsorships or people just trying to obtain free baits or tackle, I'm not about that at all. In fact, I would be fine if I received very little in return. I would love the opportunity to promote your company by talking to people personally, at seminars, or just at my tournaments and by wearing your patch, t-shirt, hat or anything with your logo or company name on it. I would just love to represent a company I have confidence in their products. Many companies don't feel that Youths can get the message across to anglers and that is why I feel they do not select many Youths to represent their pro staff, I feel differently. I would love the opportunity to represent your company at the JWC as well as for the 2009 season. Thank you for your time!

Okay a couple things I seen real quick that were killers for me. First one was that you state in your born: line that you are 17 then in your Bio you say you are 18 make up your mind is my first thought. A sponsor is going to think this KID will say anything to impress me, so can I trust him?

Get some milage numbers for your tow vehicle, if you are going to display their logo they want to know how many road miles it's going to get, because that will equal veiwers :-*

The number 6 ? Unless you have a degree in marketing I wouldn't say that you will provide them with "marketing requirements" it might come across wrong?

Your number 9. Much Much More is completely unnecessary makes you look like your begging. Just stick to the facts of what you can do.

In your Bio do say I plan to or hopefully, say "I am" and "my goal"

Also in your bio cut it down it's to long to look at, take out the words parents and use family.

Work some of this and let's see it again ;) your off to a great start ~c~

Thanks Mike. I put it here for a reason! Glad you picked up those mistakes that even i didn't catch.

The reason my age said 17 was because it was a draft i wrote up last year and i just updated the background with this years accomplishments and forgot to change the rest.

For the mileage you mentioned, should i have the annual mileage or maybe monthly? Also, what types of things do you think could be added or removed from the background info and the entire resume itself?

Thanks,

Andrew
