Next time you get one of those pesky backlashes, and we all do at some point, try these 4 easy steps to get you back in the action in no time.

1st... Tighten your drag up all the way.
2nd...Press the back side of your thumbnail into your spool fairly hard.
3rd...Make about 3 or 4 cranks of the handle.
4th...Press the release button and begin pulling out the line.

This won't fix them all but I would guess it'll take care of about 90% of them.

Good question.  I'm not sure, but it does work very well for mono and flouro.

I've heard of this before but have never tried it......I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for sharing  :-* :-*

It works very well on braid, unless you got a mess like I did on my last backlash.  For the type of backlash seen here, this method makes it worse, but for smaller ones, the method works great!!

In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.

Dug where in the world was your thumb when that happened?  lo  That is one serious mess.   I had one like that before I just started cutting it out.   Braid is great till you get a nasty Roland Martin then its time to get out the knife and scissors.

Nope I was able to pick it  out.  It snagged on something behind me just as I was launching the lure.  twice.  Worst overruns I ever had.  Second time it launch a spinning rod and reel into the drink, luckily it stayed snagged so I just pulled it back in.
