If you have always heard that flies are the way to go around the area you are fishing, but have no idea how to fly fish, this is for you. The first thing you need is a clear torpedo bobber. Take the bobber and tie it to the end of your line. Next thing you need to do is take about 18 inches of line from your spare line and tie that to the other end of the bobber. Take a fly, tie it to the end of the line you just tied to the bobber, through it upstream and let it drift down current. This technique works great with grayling and trout up here, and should prove successful for you as well  ~c~ ~c~ Also works in a lake, just slowly pull it toward you and let it sit for about 5 seconds, then pull again  8)

good tip, but you should try a spin/fly float - it's tear shaped, clear, with an opening on either end and a rubber tube that runs through the middle, it's in 2 halves that come apart but are still held together with tension. You run your line through the float leaving the desired length of line between the float and the fly, pull the two halves apart and give a little twist, then put the 2 halves back together, the tension from the rubber twist in the tubing holds your float in place.

the advantage of this type of float is that if it's a real windy day, you can put some water inside the float for additional weight and easily cast it straight into a brisk wind.  ;)
