Ever since I re-propped a few weeks ago I noticed I'm now getting a rooster tail off my skimmer transducer. Not huge, but definitely coming up higher than the transom. Is there an easy way to tell what height it needs to be? Also not getting any depth readings at speed, but it never did that consistently to begin with. Aluminum boat, if that matters.

J.W. I have a similar issue with my G3 1548 Alwed Jon Boat with No Depth Reading while on plane.  Once I come off plane the reading returns.  I hope someone has a solution to your problem.  I've tried a couple different things and they haven't worked.

I'm interested in seeing what solution gets posted here.

I'm actually tweaking this right now on my videos about my Old Bass Boat Project, as I've put two new graphs on the boat. I ran it the first time yesterday and the same as ya'll- no reading on plane. I've never had great results with outboard transducers on the back of a boat. Thru-hulls, properly installed, have always been best. That being said, I commented on this in the video (which I'll publish soon) and my possible fix, which I'll do today. Then tomorrow I'll check it again, and try for a good and reasonable compromise. What I want from my transducer is 1. GREAT (perfect resolution) and readings at idle, and 2. Good readings up to 30-40 mph, for the obvious safety reasons.

I'll lower the transducer a 1/2" or so for tomorrow's test, and we'll see. On a performance hull it's hard to get wide-open readings because when the boat finally lifts onto the final step the hull is getting pretty high for a normally set transducer to work. Since I hardly ever run wide open this doesn't bother me. Not a bit. It's an adventure, one that I like to get close on, but one that I won't fret over.

My boat is the same way. I did the coin method of leveling the ducer and it is giving really great resolution at idle speeds. But with that I think you sacrifice some on plane readings because its tilted up a bit rather than level with the bottom of the hull.

Allen, Same issue here also.  Great readings at idle speed etc.

Dale, In my G3 mounting the transducer inside of the hull isn't an option. The transducer won't shoot through the double layer floor in the battery area .

Oh, I get that Donald. There's issues no matter what boat you're working with.
