Summer is here!!  ~sweat ~sweat ~rain ~rain ~sun ~sun :surrender: :surrender: lo

As I have gotten older, summer is my least favorite time of year for fishing.  ~sweat ~sweat

I'll kick things off here. I was planning on taking the boat out today and woke up to a downpour and lightning. I went back to sleep. I woke up a little later and the rain slowed down, and the lightning was gone. I grabbed my spinnerbait rod and rain gear and went pond hopping. I started out with a War Eagle white spinnerbait and noticed that the water was very clear. I switched to the same spinnerbait in a more subtle mouse color and caught a bass on the next cast. I had a fun little flurry in the rain and ended up with 12 bass, the biggest 3 lbs. Fun day.

Looking forward to a small mouth bass fishing trip coming up in NY. That will be my next report.

I got out for the first time in almost 3 weeks. But was delayed by the BUG Spray guy. He left at 8:30 and I was on the water at 9. Had 4 between 15 inches and 18 inches and loaded up at 11:30 due to incoming storm. Good to be out and not a bad day for 2.5 hours.  2 on the Dogma and one on a Crankbait and another on the worm.

At least I am not jonesing now.

Glad you are getting back in the groove Larry.

I made a trip to Kissimmee yesterday out of Camp Mack. They only had 3 boats launched at Camp Mack, I have never seen anything like that there. Normally it is 50 to 100.

I tried everything and had nothing. Donnie my buddy had 1 14 inch fish. Wind was making it difficult, but we kept moving and searching. This lake continues to give me fits on how to catch them.

At 11:30 I went up the river into Lake Hatch and fished a good looking bank. A short time later I felt a thump. Now being lulled into a trance after hours of nothing, When I set the hook I barely had ahold of the Rod and this fish was not happy about the hook set. She pulled back hard and was stripping drag on a Heavy action rod with 20 Floro. Finally she come up and this is a 6-7 lb fish. She swings in front of the trolling motor and pulls a few more feet of drag. Then turns and makes a nice out of water leap. With the light grip making for a terrible hook set on my part this was all it took for her to throw the hook back in my face. Heart break again. There is no one to blame for this but me that is for sure. Rookie mistake. Winning or Learning right. Well this is learning.

It was a perfect day though and I got a great pic which you can see under the catch of the thread.

Tight Lines all.

Don't you hate the fishing trance. I swear the bass are watching and waiting for us to leave our guard down and strike!! Sorry to hear you lost a big one Larry.

Yeah the trance is tough. I have lost a few Big fish this spring. I guess that is why they get big. I got the joy out of her.

Could not agree more Lou.  This last month has been the slowest for me in the last 40 years.  It's been consistently tough, in all the good spots, spots I have total faith in using the time tested techniques I love to use.  It's so bad even the wife is getting on me about losing my mojo!  lo  Constant rains, and high waters, has them in a funky mood day after day.  This summer sucks big time. ~b~  ~xyz  ~b~

The messed up part about this George is, summer just got started.  ~sweat  :surrender:

Capt. BassinLou

@JHAB and @FLStorm you guys good? Haven't seen you guys around for a spell.

Capt. BassinLou

This information may help someone. I fished the alley yesterday with hopes to test something I am working on for peacocks, but I only lasted out there for 2.5 hours.

Reason being, it was ghost town. 2.5 hours and not one sign of life fishing with artificial's. There were a few guides out there, but they were all using live bait.

My lines were in at 06:30 and I was packing it in by 9 am. Water was pretty high. Clarity was good, very light current coming from the West, but again, not many signs of life, that I could see.

As I said, hopefully this info helps someone. Also, a couple of the MM35 ramps are closed. For what reason? I do not know. The ramps are  closed off with yellow tape and orange barrels.

With monsoon rains again today, lightning every 20 seconds, and hurricane force winds, it's not going to improve anytime soon!  We had at least 6 inches of rain in two hours.  Summer sucks!

Heat index today is 105.  ~sweat  ~sweat

Trying out a different area today. Maybe I will get lucky and catch a fish.  lo

Good luck, find the current and find the clean water.
