First post covid trip to the St Lawrence since 2019 last weekend and my expectations were high; hoping to finally break the 7 lb smallie mark or maybe a new pb best 5.
Water was a warm 56° and extremely clear.  The shallow fish were extremely spooky and pressured......nice weather had a dozen boats covering the juice and the deep fish were singles rather than grouped and competitive. We were a week earlier last trip, one morning it took a 1/2hour to thaw my boat off the trailer.
Fishing is always good as I say. Catching was pretty good though none of our group of 7 broke the 5lb smallie mark and we all brought in a limit of walleye "eaters" each night for our tailgate hotel parking lot feed. Good weekend of fishing and friends.  Shallow fish were caught on 3.3 keitech swimbait deep fish on hazedong shad by megabass 12-30'.

What part of the St Lawrence was this? I am getting ready to move back there near Alexandria Bay in NY near the big lake.

Fun trip Eric, congrats. Light tackle smallies are so much fun.

Too warm? We have 33 degrees and snow on the ground here, trade you. lo Takes a while for the big lake to cool down.

Cold here too now. Going to Winnipesaukee tomorrow.

Snow would be good to hide all the leaves I haven't raked up yet.

Eric, you must learn to mulch them into the lawn, very good soil amendment, free and far less work which means more fishing time.
