1/28/12: I was finally able to find something to punch today and the fishing was awesome! I have had little success fishing deep ledges and docks on lake Talquin so I decided to head to Jackson. I knew all the grass has died, but I was able to find a bunch of slop that was matted up and wind blown against dead lily pad fields. It was really cold and super windy in the beginning so I paddled my little jon boat into the wind and made a very long drift back through the fields. I ended up boating 8 bass and missed so many more too. I had one massive bite where after I punched through the mat I saw a lily pad twitch (I am pretty positive the bass swam into it going for my bait) and I had him on for a 1/2 a sec and he came off.  All the fish were caught on 1 oz tungsten, a TKO straight-shank, and an ultravibe speed craw or chigger craw in green pumpkin. A lot of the fish hit it after I raised the bait a couple of times through the mat. I also caught a few where I quickly pitched back to the same spot I just had a bite and they would nail it again. The biggest was about 4lbs, here are a couple of pics...

1/29/12: Went out again this morning and missed even more fish than yesterday. Caught the 2 lber on a Gambler Big-Ez swimbait and the other punching with zoom speed craw pictured below. Both days the bite turned on around 11-12. I found the fish today after I ran into a bunch of baitfish getting busted on.

No clue, but when the day started warming up the fish got really active.
