Florida / Productive Everglades Trips la...
Last post by Capt. BassinLou - March 31, 2025, 06:57:08 AMI have been very fortunate to have had several guide trips over the last couple of weeks. These clients were from different parts of the country and one was from out of the country. Each of these anglers wanted to take on the artificial fishing challenge in the Everglades! The artificial challenge basically means, fishing without the use of live bait.
As I take a step back and break down each of these trips. The artificial challenge is not an easy challenge especially if the angler is not well versed with using a rod and reel. Throw in proper lure placement, wind, rain, and fishing from a moving boat into the mix, and you have quite the challenge on your hands.
I am happy to report however, that despite these challenges, every one has had a fun on their outings!
The boat landed over 150 largemouth, and a few peacocks, spread out amongst these trips. Not too shabby considering none of these anglers have ever fished the Everglades before!

Maryland / Smallmouth on Upper Potomac Ma...
Last post by RangerDave - March 30, 2025, 12:03:36 PMWe had a fun day on the upper Potomac yesterday caught 11 smallmouth and a bonus walleye. The bass weigh 3 lbs 2 oz, not bad for upper Potomac. Talked to a couple of young guys fishing the area and they caught a 35" musky. All our bass came on small tube baits.
Water was 50 degrees and running clear.
Hookem hard,
Dave

Wow. What a day on the water and being back around your guys does to the mind, body, and overall life outlook. Happy to be able to join my guys in our 2nd club tournament of the year. Although the weather was fantastic and the conditions favorable, those Davis Mill Pond were stunted in growth and the bite almost non-existant.
Very tough day on the water, but still better than being at work.
Let's Go!
Welcome to SJHT 2nd event of the young 2025 Season. Today, we had a totlal of 9 SJHT anglers come out to DMP. Anglers were there bright and early and ready to put in.
Please give a big congrats to 1st place winner David *Slow & Steady* Snedeker with 3 Bass going 3.58lb's. 2nd Place was won by last weeks 1st place winnter Bill *The Hammer* Leach with 3 bass going 2.78lbs. Third place and Lunker was won by Mike Del Monico wiith 1 Bass going 1.59lbs. MISC was won by 3 different anglers with the exact .89lb weights. Way to go Bill with a .89lb crappie. David also had a pickeral going .89lbs.
Mike Del Monico also had a .89lb pickeral. All 3 split the MISC pot.
DAVIS MILL POND TALE OF TAPE:

David S. 1st Place with 3 Bass at 3.58bs.

Bill Leach's 2nd Place 2.78lbs

Mike Del Monico 3rd Place and Lunker Winner 1.59lbs:

Other Anglers
BN06 1 lone Keeper at .76lbs:

Jiggen Den in the distance:

Trapper sitting in the cuff:

Summary: Dinks on top of Dinks on top of Dinks! That was pretty much the summary at DMP today. If one was fortunate to get a bite, than you my friend was lucky. The weather seemd perfect. Air and Water temps were on the rise. On occassion, we had some cloud cover and than a little wind. The bass were not in any wood along the shoreline. Hell, personally I caught my 1st dink near a dock step. My lone keeper came Mid-Day out in the middle somewhere. Anglers navigated DMP up and down and back and forth several times. Kind of reminded of a NASCAR race. LOL
Sadly, we only had 9 bass weighed totalling of 9.07kbs This gave way to a measly 1.01lb. avg. 5 out of 9 anglers caught at least 1 Bass. 3 Misc. were weighed in.
Overall.... 2 anglers caught there 3 Bass Limit.
Congrats to David Snedker, Bill Leach, and Mike Del Monico on your performances and 3 way tie on MISC.
Next up is D.O.D. POND in 1 week.
Tightlines,

Dock Talk / Re: What's Up March 2025
Last post by Princeton_Man - March 30, 2025, 09:03:43 AMGood to hear Dwayne is continuing progress, prayer is powerful and I'm keeping you all in my my daily prayers.
Still cleaning up here from the nasty long Winter. Spent a good part of the morning servicing the transaxles on the zero turn mower yesterday morning. Then hauled off most of the tree I sawed up last week. By the time I get caught up around here, It'll be time to start mowing again.
Done, there's a couple good Stratos Facebook groups, your Stratos should sell quickly in them.
Everyone have a great Sunday!

Last post by Esox obsessed - March 30, 2025, 07:14:10 AMQuote from: loomisguy on March 30, 2025, 06:38:58 AMIt happens on a spinning reel. Either tie it to a fence post and stretch it or give it a shot of reel snot or some other conditioner.
The permanent cure is braid to a leader of your choice.
I use braid on my other rods
I topshot fluorocarbon on this set up because i know usually something
happens where i break off and it is faster then retying leaders plus i usually do end up getting snagged at least once or twice
I will definitely try the conditioner
Do you think i should spray the spare a couple times through out the few months it is on standby as well as stretching
